Oil Cooler Line Leaking?

Changed my oil today and noticed this:

Do you think this is just the cooler lines leaking or something else?

Probably the lines. Last may I replaced the ones on my 2004.

Yeah its very common actually.

the lines are not expensive...and they only take about an hour or so to replace.

Can I get just the rubber parts of the cooler line or do I need the whole thing. This is the only thing I can find. It's $80 at autozone.

Or you just break the original potmetal crimp on clamp off the rubber hose and replace it with a hose clamp. Leaking problem solved. The Dorman replacements will leak in months... my Caprices have. I bought another new set, broke the crimp ons off and replaced each one with two hose clamps.

So it's usually the crimps themselves that are leaking?

Yeah it is. GM's shoddy potmetal crimps have been a leak problem for years but they haven't changed anything with them. Just break the clamp off and replace it. Cheap and easy.

Is this the same for the 8.1 Cooler Lines?

 

Mine is leaking..........honestly the hose clamp seems like a better fix than new lines and alot faster/easier.

 

PLUS, the dealer cant determine what lines I have.

 

What do you use to cut the crimped part off without damaging hose? Just a normal wire cutter?

when you broke the crimp off how did you do that without breaking the line/rubber portion? cutoff wheel or something? you must have taken the lines out, and somehow pulled the house out then broke off the crimp portion right?

 

fyi, i just had the ones changed in our 08 malibu, same crimp on tranny lines.
