everyones gonna have a diffrent opinion on this, i think traction control, push buttow 4wd, onstar and the bed tool boxes in the dodge are absolutley useless and ugly. AFM... i would never buy a truck with it.

traction control is pretty cool when you need it i think.. also it's a simple as a push of a button to turn it off.

one innovation that i dont much care for is the added catalytic converters, etc.. makes it so quiet that you have to stomp on it to get the truck loud.. higher pitched too. difficult to get a good exhaust tone out of it.. although the environment benefits so i'm o.k. with that.

I'm steering clear of this one. Some of you guys sound like cave men when it comes to your trucks!

"OGG LIKE ROCK TIRE!! OGG WANT FRED FLINSTONE TRUCK!! ENGINE FOR SISSY!!"

Fords man step. Why oh why

As funny as the chevy commercial was with this It would have come in handy for me this past winter. My tailgate was iced up and I had to go into the bed, well I on the tailgate didnt have anything to grab and almost flew off. I would take this option

I really DO NOT GET the man-step. I can't see myself ever needing it, unless I was handicapped or something. Sometimes I get into the bed from the side and use the tire as a step. Maybe if you have a huge lifted truck it'd be good, but for a stock truck? Why? It just seems pointless, and Ford humpers act like Ford cured cancer by inventing it or something.

I know I might catch some heat but I'll throw these out there.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors (people did ok without for 70 years)

DIC (kind of fun, but not neccessary)

Steering wheel controls (radio is right there, people did ok without for 60 years)

heated/auto dimming/turn signal non-painted side mirrors (would much have prefered a smooth painted set)

Electric Side Mirrors (how often since you first set them, have you ever adjusted them?)

Push-Button 4X4 (manual floor shift is more reliable and less parts or sensors to break/replace)

On-Star (nice feature when you need it, but only useful for the one in a million chance of a terrible wreck)

Auto-dimming/compass/outside temperature rear-view mirror (I guess if you don't know your local climate and geography, it might be nice)

6 way power seats (how often after you get it set, do you ever adjust it?)

How much could GM drop off their price tag if they didn't have all this fluff.......$1000-2000-3000????

I like all this stuff, except for maybe OnStar, which I don't have. This thread is about the worst truck innovations, not the clever, useful innovations.

For me its the TPMS, AFM, and Console Shifter.

Seat belt chime that cannot be disabled. What a PITA when jumping in and out with the door 1/2 open to see where your trailer is while backing up or parking  !

Go around the back of the seat and buckle it, just make sure to pull enough slack. I do this when I am getting in and out with the trailer, or for any reason, then I just put it back when its time to go down the road. Unless of course you got one of those goofy setups where the seat belt is in the door!

All those useful things are great, auto 4 allows my wife to drive the truck, I just cant see her out locking hubs in. I love power seats, power and auto dimming mirrors I dont think I could go without know that I have them.

I think TPMS is required by big brother now!

i get pissed when i want to clean the inside of my cab and i can't leave the doors open and listen to the radio without it chimeing..i agree i like the floor shifter for 4x4 alot better then the buttons but in todays day and age alot of mongoloids don't know how to work the floor shifter let alone how to tell if they are in hi or low.....as for the ford sex toy shifter in the middle of the cab, thats there incase in gets lonely being stuck on the side of the road...

The seat belt is in the way on extend cab NNBS trucks. Its no longer in the seats. You can't fit large things in the cab because the seat belt hangs down and is not bendable for a foot or more.
