Warranty Block And Recalls

Recommended Posts

If it's a safety recall issued by the feds, it will have to be honored unless the owner did something to the part or system that is the subject of the recall.

And what is the warranty block? Entire truck or just certain components or systems??

Warranties are generally not honored on rebuilt salvage vehicles. That appears to be the issue here.

That also includes vehicles that were flood damaged and were bought and subsequently sold by the insurance company. Even if damage was not serious. Once the salvage title is issued, all original manufacturer's warranties are null and void.

A very good reason to ask for the CarFax from the dealer, or pay the small cost to get it yourself! Some states have (or used to at least) loop holes, that allowed ways to wiggle out of listing flood damaged vehicles. Thats stuff that almost always shows up on a Carfax check.

So where does that leave the recalls

Since recalls are generally safety related items, I'd imagine they would be covered. Frankly, you need to contact a dealer and find out.

Recalls are filed with the Federal Govt then issued. Safety and Emission recalls cannot be canceled or blocked and only expire(close) after they are completed by a dealer and paid for by the factory. Regardless of the title situation> TSB's on the other hand are a different story.

I thought I answered this above earlier but.......Recalls ARE covered.
