Name The First Chevy You Remember Your Family Owning

I remember when i was a little tyke... i am 36 now. My dad drove his 1961 Impala 2 dr to work every day.. he bought it brand new in early 61, before the 409's were released. His had a 283 4bbl with factory dual exhaust and 3 on the tree with overdrive. This was in the late 70's.. he drove it until 1986 i think. Sold it when i was in high school.. made me so mad.. i wanted to restore it and drive it to high school..

 

We also owned a 1975 Suburban with the 454.. took him about 6 months to find one.. they were not that common back in the day. Ours was a dealer demonstrator model, had the Silverado trim package with vinyl seats (ouch in Florida!), 3rd row seating and rear a/c with the power rear window. We towed a 12ft. Starcraft pop-up, then upgraded to a t.t.... The Burb' got the same mileage wether were towing the trailer or not.

 

My first car was my brothers 1979 Cutlass Supreme Brougham.. 305 factory 4bbl, aluminum hood... car was nice. My last GM car was my 2000 T/A 6 speed.. miss that car.. now, i am in love with the GMC trucks, so as soon as the F150 is worn out, and i get married and pay for the wedding and honeymoon, maybe a good 2 year old GMC for me..

 

Anyone else got any stories? Good Chevy products to talk about?

I can't remeber if we had our Buick Regal first or our Chevy S-10 first, and I remember driving the crap out of both them in the back country roads of Oklahoma growing up. I used to love taking them out and fish tailing like crazy out in the country road...

Well I don't remember it but there is a picture of me in a carseat in my mom's 77 Trans Am and the first truck I remember riding in was dad's 402 powered 72 chevy 2wd long box. Those were a dime a dozen back in the day and he used it for a work truck after grandpa was done with it at the farm!

I remember my uncle having a 77 C10...yellow with a wooden box on it.

I also remember my Grandfather having an 83 Impala right around the same time....I was born in 1980, and I'm pretty sure that my grandpa bought the impala when it was a year old.

First Chevy I remember was a 1963 Impala Convertable. Dad bought it brand new when I was five. We had it for 10 years before he sold it and bought a Jeep Wagoneer in 1973.

 

I bought my first car in 1974. It was a 1968 Pontiac Firebird (well, it is GM). I paid $1,200 for it. Sure wish I had kept it now.

I don't know what kind of cars my family had before I was born, but the first Chevy I remember my family owning was an '87 Suburban.

the Earliest GM I remember our Family having is a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais. if my memory serves me correctly it was a Maroon exterior, and Burgandy Interior. our Second GM was a 1990 Pontiac Bonneville that we got when we first moved to Tennessee. Our 3rd was our 1981 GMC Sierra Classic with the 305 2BBl. our 4th GM (We Still have it BTW) is a 1989 Chevy Celebrity Sedan with the 2nd Gen LB6 2.8L. and Last but CERTAINLY not Least, is our Truck of Win and Awesome, the FREE 2009 Chevy Silverado from Lowe's!

first chevy... and first brand new car my parents ever owned was a '61 Chevrolet Biscayne 4 door, straight 6, 3 on the tree transmission.

 

... it was one of the cars I learned to drive on ... it was 8 years old and only 50,000 miles when I started using it... and then some #### stole it and wrecked it...
