So I use to be with Alltel....they were bought out by Verizon Wireless when we switched I upgraded and I decided to go with a smart phone. I got the Blackberry Curve, I am so sick of smart phones I just want to go back to a normal one again. Went to Verizon said I hated the smart phone, so they tell me I got to buy a normal phone outright now...$250 to $300 for a $19.99 phone...if i was upgrading. I really don't want to spend that for a phone. Tried buying a prepaid phone and having them activate that one at Wal-mart. They said it needs to of been on a contract for 6 months :O!!!

the Hurdles you half to make to go from a high dollar phone to a cheap phone lol...

Thanks for your time

I have my old CDM9900 - audiovox... (verizon phone) Its got some wear and scratches ,but was a great phone.... I can plug it in and make sure it still charges... I'd let it go for cheap... c-net review

Let me know, i have a lg DARE right now (all touchscreen) and am actually loooking to upgrade to the droid incredible.. So this old flip wont help me then... I kept it for a backup in case i broke my LG so i wouldnt be in that situation of no phone..

you can buy any cheap old phone off of ebay too and have that activated in place of your smartphone...verizon just doesn't want you to downgrade their service which is why they charge so much when you try to do it.

Never met a smart phone I liked. I will keep my old Nokia. Always works. Always can actually hear on it without all that popping and cutting out. 8 years old and still holds a charge for 2 days.

Try all that with a smartphone.

I have an Ipod Touch if I want wifi access. When it breaks, I still have a phone!

the problem is that Blackberry Curve you have is actually worth about $200 more than what you gave for it - you signed a service contract in order to get the discounted price. The phone company wouldn't be able to stay in business if they sold you a phone at $200 under the regular retail price every two months! If you want another phone so quick you'll have to pay full retail price and you'll probably be stuck with the "smart phone" data plan for a specified amount of time regardless of what phone you have.

Well i figured I would like it..but I was wrong :(..atleast if I get a regular phone again i can deactivate the unlimited data part of my plan ....The Phone is just junk...Locks up all the time...Blah...

I have gone from a Blackberry back to a regular phone and Verizon was very easy to work with about dropping the data plan for me. They didn't require me to pay anything or keep the data plan since my regular phone plan was still going to stay with them. I'd vote for finding one on ebay that you like and that way you could possibly get all the accessories you need along with it. Happy hunting!

Have you tried saying you lost your phone??

How much does it cost to brake your contract...a lot of the time its cheaper than buying a phone.

Also...if its cheaper, you can threaten it, and they will likely just give you a cheap phone and put you on a new contract with that one, so they wont lose the business.

My wife use to work at a call center for AT&T, and the managers would approve things like this all the time. You just have to be nice to the person your calling.
