Borla Exhaust

i want to get a new muffler to wake up my 5.3 engine. i was going to buy a corsa but found out that they do no just sell the muffler. i dont want to get an entire cat back system as i do not like exhast tips, especially on the corsa as IMO it makes it look like a poser truck like the tundra. borla and magnaflow seem to be the highest quality. my brother has a magneflow and it is too loud and there is a drone inside but it is a 6.6 turbo diesel so i am sure magneflow would not be as loud on my truck. does anybody have a Borla exhaust system and is so is there any drone inside the cab? what size muffler did you get? what about edelbrock exhaust? What about GMPP performace exhaust? thanks

I have a borla SS cat back on the way. I'll let you know what I think, but I ordered after talking with a lot of people that run them. I know SCHSIERRA has it as well and he loves it. Look at AJUSA.com to order it. They have really good pricing and they ship direct from Borla. I think this is the direct link to your truck, but you may want to double check it LINK to AJUSA 2006 GMC Sierra 1500

I have a Borla ProXS dumped right under the bed with no drone at all. The muffler was around $100 from summit I believe. I think the factory exhaust is great and a whole cat back is probably over kill for a stock truck. The Borla is about as loud as a 3 chamber 50 series flow master if you have ever heard one.

Borla came on Monday and I installed it last night. System sound really nice. I hear a slight drone as I take off for a brief moment and then it is gone. I have had some tell me that it will go away after some miles, but it really isn't bad. Once you get moving there is no drone at all. I did snap off both bolts at the stock exhaust connection. I should have let the penetrating oil work longer I guess. I just air hammered them out and installed new bolts. I am pretty happy with the whole package sound, look and power. How much power can you get from an exhaust system? Not much, but just enough to notice it.

You said you want to "wake up" your 5.3. Do you mean sound wise or performance? A muffler change will not effect performance.

Headers, high flow cats, and mufllers, now that will wake it up.

There is some drone with the borla at higher gears around like 2,000 RPM. After a about a month it's mostly gone but I still get it sometimes but it's pretty rare. You have to be in the right gear with the right amount of gas and all.

Very good system though. Best money I've spent on the truck.

Single 3" inlet to single 3"outlet. Cant remember the case size. I think there is only one case size for the proXS with those inlet and outlet sizes though.

Let us know what you think once it's installed Jordan. I'm also looking at getting this muffler since the 70 series flowmaster I have now is too tame.

I heard that Corsa now sells mufflers individually. I think they are called the dB series or something like that.

Nope. A year ago or more they sold the db mufflers individually. Now they only sell the catback systems
