gregrocks89 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 So yesterday was my first day freestyling on my dirt on the ramps. Needless to say i was pretty scared but i grew a set and did it. First ramp i landed an it was perfect landing. Second jump, i didnt give it enough gas at the ramp and i drove striaght into the hill the hill where i was landing. my leg drove into my footpegs tearing my hip up and when i finally fell to the ground my bike landed on top of me. So right now i got a bruise thats 6" long by 4" wide and blood everywhere. I wore jeans later that night and now i got a huge blood stain on my jeans. At least i was wearing all my riding gear. I got bruises on my head, my arms are cut up, bruises all over my chest, and that big one on my leg which is making me not able to walk. The damage to my bike was bent handlebars, torn grips, broken throttle housing, and bent plastic. So today i orderd some new Pastrana bars, ufo body kit, and new moose levers. still need the grips and housing yet
hockeypro1411 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 ...Ouch. You're always better off taking a jump in a lower gear with the bike screaming instead of a higher gear.
Daryl LBZ Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Man that sucks. Youll get better the more you ride though.
gregrocks89 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Yeah man i know for next time how to hit the ramp tho. Gonna be awhile before i ride tho. I gotta wait till i get all my parts and my hip heals some more
oldschool327 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 My 10 year old son always tells me that "if you aint breaking stuff than you aint trying hard enough dad". Kids say the best things. get well and ride hard!
gregrocks89 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 haha if your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough

Never rode a bike, but my cousins do and their really good at it.

Zembonez Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Glad you are OK. This stuff will bite you no matter how "good" you get. It happens! All you can do is mount up and go back at it.
700 sportsman Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Yeh, my buddy has a 450r and we built a track at his house, and we've went to a couple local tracks. I've road it some, and your definately have to get used the bike, and then you know what gears you need for what jumps and whatnot, I've never really wrecked on, just flopped over the bars a time or 2, and smashed the boys a couple times. Check out oury grips, my buddy has them, my dad, and I have them on my bicycle, and I'd have them on my sportsman if I didn't have heated grips. They are pretty good size if you have bigger hands, and they are very comfy and last quite a while. Post up some pics of your bike some time
captainmorgan00 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Sounds like a good wreck. At least you didn't break an arm or a leg..that would have really sucked. I always thought it would be cool to get a chance to hit some of those freestyle jumps. I bet its nuts!

They were one of my sponsors back when I was racing. Scott grips were too small for my hands, and caused blisters. Oury were larger, and much more cushioning when you need it. Hope you get better, and stay off the freestyle stuff until you know for sure you are ready.
KMGZ400 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 like they say, practice makes perfect. when i was 11 i got an old suzuki 230 quadrunner after about a week of having it i hit a rather large cinderblock in the middle of a trail near my house and got thrown head first into a tree and blacked out for a few seconds..thank god i was wearing a helmet... 700 sportsman, i have heated grips on my kinquad 450, the best 75 dollars ever spent.
grampadirt Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I've used this phrase many times..This is gonna hurt Like Jim said..heal up and hit it again.Don't give up
mkelly Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 ...Ouch. You're always better off taking a jump in a lower gear with the bike screaming instead of a higher gear. Um...... that is not correct. If you have to have the bike screaming to clear a jump you are better off clicking up a gear.
