New Purchase Questions - Found A 6.2

Background - I currently have a 2002 F150 SuperCrew FX4 with the 5.4. 82,000 miles it's been flawless, but it's underpowered. I really like the new F150's, but still underpowered, and not sure I want to wait for the new engines. Gave the Tundra a look, but I can't get past the interior and the thin body panels. So I have been looking for a Chevy/GMC with a 6.2 and 3.73 and I finally found one that isn't overloaded with leather, navi, etc. I have yet to drive it, but when I go I want to be prepared for purchase so I would like some feedback as to what people are actually paying for these.

MSRP is $41,850. Rebate is $5000. Looks like invoice is around 3k less than MSRP. Is $10k off MSRP to much to expect? Or is $8k more in the ballpark?

Any feedback with regards to purchase price and how poeple like the 6.2/3.73 is appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to get 0% for 72 months in lieu of the 5K rebate. If you go this route you should be able to get a few grand off the sticker given that it's the end of the month.

You can expect about 2-3 grand off sticker but not much more. GM thinks these trucks are made of gold

last year dealers were offering 10k off all truck on their lot for over so many days... so it wouldn't be unheard of and isn't a bad starting point.

My 2010 Ext cab silverado with the 6.2L with the NHT package was about 31,000 new. It does not have leather, nav, sunroof, or any of the really fance stuff, but it is the LT with bluetooth, XM ext.

I thought the 6.2 was

My truck stickered for $44 and I paidright at 39 after taxes. So far worth every penny. At the time the 2010's just came out (1st one in my area that was ordered) and the rebate was only $1500.

You have to do whatever YOU are comfortable with

I highly suggest test-driving a few, and DO NOT buy just because "...I felt like buying; or ...I had an urge to buy..."

You want to research EVERYTHING 110%, then go and make a deal

I bought a well-equipped 2010 Silverado, about 6 weeks ago, for nearly $11,000 off MSRP

Dealer had the truck sale-tagged at actual GM supplier pricing, then stacked a bunch of rebates on top of that. I was able to get the truck EVEN CHEAPER than what was advertised.

How??

Talk to them. Shop at the end of the month. Offer a completely INSANE deal. The worst they can say is NO.

Mine was ext cab 6.2 was 41800 also. I got 6500 rebates, around 2500 gms price and 4000 down made it 31500 out the door. Do not take the 0%. If you want to pay it off early or trade it in 3 years down the road, You will owe 5000 more on it than you will if you take the rebates. If you get a good rate its a wash. If your trading in your truck add aleast 2000 to what they offer you.

And another thing, after driving a Ford 5.4 and if you drive the 6.2 you will buy it. Good Luck

$10k off MSRP should be doable, or almost. Recently I got a Sierra that stickered for $36.5k for $9k off MSRP, but that included $6k in rebates. After much haggling they also gave me $1k more on my trade than they wanted to (and $1k more than I expected them to). In a sense, if I'd had no trade, I should've been able to get $10k off MSRP. I think with a $40k+ MSRP, $10k off should be attainable.

Oh, and in my experience, they'll deal much more at the end of the month.

thanks for the feedback guys. I am going to go Saturday and drive it. I have actually been looking for a new truck for a couple of years, so I'm pretty familiar with all of them. The last GM I test drove was a 6.0 though. I just wanted to be prepared that if I like the truck and want to make the purchase that I was well informed an what people are paying. Good thing is Saturday is the last day of the month....

I found a 6.2 / Max Towing / SLT GMC on the lot when I was getting my oil changed back in May. Sticker was 42k, they went down to 34k and offered me 20k on trade in for my 08 SLE with 52k miles on the initial quote, no b.s., straight up. Point is, they'll work with you, and it's pointless to go through the runaround with a dealer that doesn't. It's a global economy now, and you can use cars.com to find a truck anywhere in the U.S. and have it shipped to your front door.
