Does anyone have a PN for the plastic "cushions" that are inserted in the hole @ each end of the "helper" spring?

I found this TSB mentioned in the latest Truck Trend. I had noticed a few weeks ago that the OEM "cushions" had gone missing & there was some spring slapping. GM doesn't stock a replacement part. I ended up getting a couple of used parts from a spring shop.

I had a bad rear leaf spring noise earlier this yr. I wasnt missing anything. Had my springs replaced and whalla noise gone (knock on wood)

oh yea those dampeners (large cushions that go on the ends of the springs) are discontinued by gm. Some places still have them but they are expensive

The part number was 15604174

I think you want part# 15247030. I just ordered 4 from CompNine (www.compnine.com). They are $9.51 ea. I could not find them on GMpartsdirect. The other part# listed above comes up on CompNine as $89 each and no diagram to check if it's the piece you need. They both are just named "insulators." On my '02 1500HD, the round insulators part# 15247030 are only on the bottom-most, thick, HD leaf spring. They push into a hole at each end of that particular leaf spring with the round pad facing UP towards the bottom surface of the next leaf, above.

On the 4 upper leafs, that are held together as a 4-pack with a metal box/clamp fitted around them & just inside the ends of the bottom & shortest spring, I find black plastic squares fitted to the ends of the 3 top-most leafs in this 4 leaf "sandwich." These black squares slide over the ends of ea. leaf (leafs 1-3) and face downward to contact the upper face of the leaf below. Not sure on the part# of these square insulators but they don't look to be any $89 part at all.

I'll try and include the parts diagram from online below. In the diagram #11 is the Round insulator part# 15247030 I mentioned above. Also #12 is the square plastic pad, and #s 6+7+8 make up the box/ clamp at each end of my top 4 leaf "sandwiches." Though not shown in the parts diagram, my leaf springs have #12 at both ends of every leaf except the 4th one (and of course the #5 bottom HD leaf) & mine face down not up.

FWIW, I also managed to get rid of most of my annoying rear suspension noise by working in some spray-on White Lithium grease, in between, around, and all over all parts shown in the diagram. I used a flexible putty knife to spread it around & remove any excessive amounts of grease. Good luck, it was not a fun issue to fix on my truck.

I don't remember the part number but I have changed them several times on my 01 2500...... They seam to be a very high wear item...... At least on my truck, which is a victim of more towing than driving. My local dealer keeps them in stock or did last year when I changed them the last time.

Squeaks and rattles are something that drives me up the wall just like somebody taking there finger nails and scratching a chalk board...... Or squeaking Styrofoam.

Next time I may try the Energy Suspension ones thou.

What does this spring slap sound like. I had a noise start up when I came to a stop and it sounds like a flat but it went away. I just figured it must have been the road.
