Absolutely! A buddy of mine with a 2010 Sierra actually put it on his to size it up and make sure it'd work...fit is identical to that of the Silverado.

 

It's Airaid p/n 200-996

 

...And George, glad I could be of help! Every forum I searched in the past had people with the 09-10 quoting Airaid saying that it will not fit because the MAF was moved toward the airbox too far. Before buying this, I took a diagonal measurement from the end of the MAF to the front of the throttle body of a 2008 Silverado and it was (if I remember correctly) about 19 inches, which is the same as my 2010.

I checked out the installation pdf on the Airaid website, and the pictures showed an identical set-up to the '09-'10 5.3 engine air intake. I'm in!

The post with the dyno runs was interesting...is there anything like that showing a comparison between a drop in performance filter vs. a full CAI? Or can anyone shed some light on that? I'm still considering buying the rest of the Airaid kit.

 

Since getting my magnaflow exhaust Saturday and installing the MIT, I noticed my highway MPG's (on the same trip, made daily) went up from about 23.2 avg to 24.5 avg (I did get 24.8 this morning). No dyno results but I can say it doesn't feel like it wants to downshift on hills nearly as much and it seems to pull a little harder in the lower gears. AFM stays active longer, even on slight uphill grades (it usually only kicked in when going downhill or on an extremely flat area for a short amount of time, driving delicately). That power/efficiency gaining me 1 mpg + is great since I drive almost 500 miles/week for work, and any more gains would be great!

Is the stock intake tube that restrictive? I have not had it off to look inside but it does not seem the resonators would effect flow very much? Are there baffles inside the stock tube?

I'm using an AFE Pro-Dry S air filter element in the stock air box now,so the tube should make everything in the air intake good.

 

My Dynomax exhaust system has messed with my right-foot modulator, so I really hate to check mileage at this time. LOL

Matt, thanks for the great info and pics. Before I pull the trigger on this for my '09 5.3, does anyone know any negative effects of the MIT?

 

I started a topic a few months ago regarding the complete Volant intake I had and I guess I was not the only one with problems. The mileage plummeted, check engine light kept coming on, and the engine was running way too rich. Back and forth with Volant techs was no help and I ended up returning it.

 

I suspect that the problem was with how the MAF sensor sat in the Volant tube, so am I right to assume that there should be no issue with the AirAid MIT because the MAF stays untouched?

Using the MIT should not adversely effect the MAF and cause the vehicle to run rich...like you pointed out, the MAF still sits in the stock location. Aside from the post you mentioned, I also heard of/read about a lot of people encountering issues with the Volant intake, and it does at least seem to be linked to the way the sensor sits in the tube.

 

For one of the previous posts, the stock intake tubing is not too restrictive, but it causes highly turbulent airflow. The accordion-like flex section of the tube causes a lot of turbulence, and the stock air baffles generate a low pressure area that disrupts airflow.

 

A lot of my research shows that the stock air box flows very well...assuming this is true, would having an open air element provide better efficiency for the engine? I understand people say hot air is the enemy but I found an interesting post on another forum. Though it's not a full size GM truck, the same principles apply.
