Fuel Brands

What brand of fuel do you get the best mileage with? I have a 2007 Silverado, with new body style, and a V6 engine. 17 mpg is the best I have ever gotten out of this pickup. I usually get about 14 or 15 mpg at 70 or 75 mph. I'm thinking about installing cruse control, to see if that helps. Any thoughts?

With my 2000 it was Chevron. Only problem we dont have them around here.

Now I basically only run Gas America (E85)

When I am out of town I usually hit a Mobil.

Only Top Tier for me.

Diesel is usually Shell or Diamond Shamrock (Only ones around here anyways that are at $2.89 a gallon)

Regular Gas, I usually run Philips/Conoco, Diamond Shamrock, or Shell. BP or Sinclair when in a pinch and can't find anything else close by. Would run Chevron without hesitation all the time if they had them here in Colorado.

I don't remember enough from my Org Chem classes to understand the differences, but I try to stick to the top tier fuels. And in Des Moines, that really limits you to 1 or 2 difference chains. :(

FWIW, my mechanic had a jar of Top Tier Gas and a jar of regular stuff. The Top Tier was a beautiful deep golden-clear color, much like a nice Sam Adams. The regular was dark and cloudy, kinda like a Guinness Cloudy Black.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Guinness, but I wouldn't put it in my truck's tank. My tank on the other hand . . .

i have a Chevron and Shell station down the road but there prices are HIGH..about .30+ a gal more than the ARCO a cross the freeway. so i have been using the ARCO for years. out of town any top tier will do.

one of the things i like about ARCO is
