Shock Recommendations?

My father recently got a really good deal on a 270k mile 2500hd 6.0L LT. We're fixing a bunch of stuff on the truck right now, and one of the items in need of replacement is the shocks. I know what I would run if it were a 1/2 ton, but I don't know much about the 3/4 ton. Any suggestions? My truck has the Rancho shocks from the factory and I LOVE them. I was thinking either those or Bilsteins, but I'm not sure.

We would like to keep the ride comfortable, but have a pretty stout shock as well. Any suggestions? Care to post a link? Thanks guys. :chevy:

I am running the Monroe Reflex on my truck (same shock as the Rancho 5000). I am very happy with the Monroes. Many people here like the Bilsteins and they are a nice shock also but a little more money.

Comfortable might not be a word mentioned when describing the 2500HD's ride.

Rancho 5000s theyre just like the reflexs and they look like 100x better.... also consider the Rancho 9000 if you have the $$$ cause its only like 100-150 more and 200 for the controler and you can ajust the stiffness of the shox

anybody i know runs bilstein hds on their 2500/3500s, which lead me to do the same on my half ton...its a stiff shock but rides nice under weight...lifetime warranty also

I have bilsteins on mine and wouldn't have it any other way. I have tried many shocks over the years and bilsteins are the best so far. They ride better and handle better.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I've decided to go with the Monroe Reflex. I can get them for ~$40/piece and haven't seen anything bad about them yet. Looks like the truck might actually be ready for the road next week. So we'll see how well she rides then.

Bilsteins. There's a reason that customers of mine still have them on their trucks with near 150,000 miles on them.....because their the toughest, best shock on the market.
