What I Noticed

So the other day I noticed that trucks should have some kinda of buzzer sound or something for when your tail gate is down or when your driving and it comes down. The new fords, gmc's, dodges, titans, and tundras dont have this. Like when you half ass close a door you get a door ajar sound right? So why not when you put your truck in drive and a sound goes off when your tail gate is down or when it falls down.

I just noticed with some of the newer trucks in the winter time the tail gate can be a bastard to close at times. We run rat packs at work and there has been times where the tail gate has fallen down and a drawer full of tools falls onto the highway.

Seems like a moot point to have that to me.

Kind of like how Caddys have the real loud clicks on the turn signals so old people won't drive five miles down the highway with them going.

Everytime I had my Tailgate drop while driving there was a pretty good THUD to let me know it happened.

Maybe a dashboard indicator light?

pointless...if you don't hear the thud or notice it down while driving you probably are too old for a truck and need a buick

Yeah true enough, but lets say your driving down a highway with alot of frost heaves like we got here to. So after the 5th heave you hit your tail gate comes down to. There has been times where it has came undone driving back to the office and its been undone but luckily all our shit was still in it. just though it be a decent idea

Yeah, after I washed my truck one day I drove it down the highway, I guess I didn't shut it good. And when it fell down I thought one of my aftermarket drop shackles had broken. It's pretty noticeable.

Well, think about it. How often has your tailgate actually fallen open while driving?

I can count the number of times it's happened to me on one hand.

If anything, I'll meet you in the middle and say, an aftermarket application may be needed.

But not a feature that comes standard on all models.

Yes i totally agree with what your saying, but do you guys live in an area where theres lots of snow, -30 and colder temperature and run tonneau covers? Tail gates dont always like to close properly. Haha anyone is more then welcome to come take the work truck for a week and see how the tail gate closes. Thats what im saying. Anytime time in the summer or anything other season when the roads are smooth your going to notice. But you get rough lease roads, extreme tempatures and snow, tail gates dont always like to close. and all im saying it would be a decent idea if it did come undone a light or sound would come one or simply forgot it undone.

I took that into consideration.... Hence why I met you in the middle.

As long as there is a way to shut it off so I don't have a buzzer or light going off when I want to have it down

Sounds to me like you need to grab a drill, a couple of hooks, and a 1 foot long piece of chain. Safety chain FTW. Plus it'll match your wallet-on-a-chain and you'll be tough.

never mind it falling down. What about when you open it to get something out and forget to close it. If you pull in the driveway and have to back out you wouldnt see it open before you left. I did that just the other day and thought that there should be some kind of light.

No need for another idiot light.

This has got to be the most stupidest innovation since the man-step.

I have my tailgate down when I haul long items, I don't need some annoying buzzer. Also how are your guys tailgates failing while your driving? I've never had or heard of that happening!

I'm glad I don't have this "buzzer"
