The windshield wipers on my 97 S10 Blazer are acting up.  This past weekend I went to use them and they didn't even turn on.  No matter what setting I put them on I get nothing.  I can hear a slight buzzing from the dash area though.

Then later the same day they started working intermittently.  I checked them again today and they work, but won't shut off when in the off position.  When they do decide to shut off they don't stop at the bottom.  I have to keep playing w/ them to get them to stop where I want.

I'm getting ready to call my mechanic, but I was wondering if anyone here has had the same or similiar trouble?  Maybe there is a quick fix like resetting the controller or something.

Thx guys!

On the 90's model full size truck's, I know that some of them had a poor ground on the windshield wiper motor.  The S10 blazer may have the same problem.

Is your wiper motor mounted to your firewall with rubber "feet"?

If it is, the problem could be the circuit board that controls the motor.  It is mounted on the motor itself.  Our local NAPA stocks this part.  Run a small (4"-6") ground wire from one of the circuit board covers' screws to the firewall to prevent this from happening again.

Well, I checked and you are right.  It's the same motor mounted to the firewall.  I see the circuit board cover and the screws I can use to ground it out.

When you mention grounding to the firewall, where is the best place?  I was thinking of just using one of the bolts that mounts the motor to the firewall.

I have a feeling this will fix it.

Thanks so much!

I ended up removing and reseating the connector to the motor.  Wife drove the truck and says the wipers are working perfectly now.  I still have to verify this, but she says the come on fine and shut off fine.  Hopefully this fixed the problem.  Might have just been a dirty connector?
