Cleaning out the desk drawer looking for a computer cable and came across my very first modem! Any guesses as to what it might have been?? I let give you a hint it was made by Hayes. Let the games begin.

I'm not old, but I remember dialup, we used rockwell modems though. And you can't beat that good ole' sound.

The first modem I owned was a 300baud modem for the Commodore 64.

It used a modified set of Hayes commands. That was a while back.

Umm... yeah, quite a while. Full disclosure: My first modem was an external module for an Atari ST. A friend and I wrote a mini "pong" game for the C-64 for fun in high school. So, there you go... I'm older than I thought.

man im not that old but did grow up in the boonies. I loved those old modems. the noise was the best. That and the smell when you were stupid enough to be on in a lightning storm and it got hit.

Yep the last time I had dial-up I messed up and left the computer hooked up and left to go to town and sure enough when I got back the modem had been struck and it screwed my whole computer. Thank god it was nothing but a cheap sempron system.
