Getting Line-x'd. How Far Up To Go?

Recommended Posts

Here's a pic of the new truck. Pic her up on Oct. 1st. Going to Line-x on the 12th. I'm getting colour matched/kevlar liner in the box over the rails for sure. Wheel wells, rockers and flares. What is all your opinions on how far up to go? The front fender flare is pretty big, I'm not sure if I want to cover the whole thing, although I'm not sure I want to have a line half way up it either. What about at the back? I'm thinking of going level with the top of the bumper and maybe 2-3" around the fender. Same with the side, I don't really want to have line-x/paint/moulding. Too many lines.

Anybody good with photoshop..lol

AHHHH..

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea why you plan to linex most of the exterior of your truck unless you plan to run crazy offset wheels and drive down gravel roads at high speed every day, why not just by mudflaps

Because I live at the end of a 300km gravel road, way up North. Have to drive over 1000 km's to get to any major city area.....that's why. I bought a $30k truck and want to protect it. Is there something wrong with that? There are lots of people around who linex their truck like I'm talking about...go to linex.com and see.

Anyone with any OTHER opinions?

By the way PERV, I'm buying some good mudflaps too.

I would look into some fender extenstions that are painted to match your truck. They might have a cleaner look than line-x on your fenders.

whatever you decide I would like to see pics!

Sounds like you should buy flare then too, maybe you should look at some of the gmt900 that have been 2 tone painted, they do the lines of the fenders and then drop down below the door handles, I mean it sounds like a necessity so you at least want to make it look good.

Where are you from? 300km gravel road is kind of nuts you have to fill up before you started and then just make it back out on fumes

Color match Line-X to the bottom of your door moldings will be great protection for what you will be driving in. IMO you should not need to do the entire fender flares. Keeping it even with the bottom of your door molding would be perfect. I have seen many trucks done like this with the color match and it's actually hard to tell from a distance that it isn't the factory paint job.

EDIT : here is a link from the Line-X website, it will give you an idea of what it will be like, can't even tell with the color match. Looks good :

Personally I wouldn't go any higher than the trim on the doors and follow that thru to the bed. Maybe 2" along the fenders :)

Color matched, it should look good.

I think that's exactly what I'm going to do. Maybe not quite 2", but something close. I'll put up pics when it's all done. Thanks for those photos.

Here it is all linex'd up! Went right up to the moulding and 2" around the wheel wells. And the box, all colourmatched. I promised pics, here they are.
