Bad Experiences W/lower Air Dam Removed?

Recommended Posts

I've read countless post on removing the lower air dam on the nbs trucks. It's been about 4 years now for the nbs trucks and these trucks should be getting up there in milage. I was wondering has anyone had any problems with the engine or dealership over removing this pia piece of plastic? Any long term issues?

Worse gas mileage. The air dam lowers the air flow under the vehicle regardless of a car or truck thus improving fuel economy..

Took mine off first week i had the truck so no clue on any MPG losses but I doubt it's significant. 8000 miles and even in the hottest of weather no issues. Don't think I've seen anyone report issues with having it off.

Your engine will overheat and blow up, no need to worry about gas milage then. :jester:

I bet there are 500 topics in regards to this $5 piece of plastic. Only about 250 more until we beat this horse dead :P

Yeah but what oil and filter is best to use if I pull the airdam? :P

The change in mileage is not even noticeable on the GMT900 without the air dam.

Since it's such an easy mod, pull it off and see what it does. If you're not happy, put it back on. It's only two screws.

Just about everyone I know around me with 8/900 trucks has taken it off. Only thing is that now when we go off road or through deep snow its one thing we dont have to worry about getting ripped off.

I am glad i removed mine. I have the plastic arou d the tow hooks bent as it is. Just find some angles that it hits when i off road at .02 mph.

none, the added cooling will negate it

I don't think you'll notice any difference other than the look. I pulled mine off a while back and noticed no difference. I actually put it back on this past week because I decided I prefer the look with it on better. To each their own.
