Dic Help

Recommended Posts

I tried search but I think the key words would not allow for a search.

My brother bought a 4.8 and wants to add DIC. Can it be done? I know I have seen guys on here that add the DIC panel and they wiring is already there. I appreciate the help.

EDIT - Sorry. I guess I need to add its a 2008

GMT900 trucks are easy. All you need to buy is a DIC button cluster which replaces the existing dash insert and connects to the existing wiring. The costof the part is probably just over $ 100 or so (from what I remember from prior posts on the subject).

Thank you sir. I am not sure who told him it could not be done but I sure thought it could be.

Thank you again

Any idea if steering wheel stereo controls can be added as well?

Yes, replace the steering wheel with one that has the controls and it should be plug and play assuming the factory radio is steering wheel ready. Some of the base models were not.

19159438 is the part number for the DIC panel with switches installed. Takes 2 mins to install.

Can the base models accommodate the DIC? I thought I saw somewhere the base cluster couldn't.

Radio controls might also require a new clockspring as the base one may not have the connectors.

the DIC panels are on special on gmpartsdirect.com, for right around 65 plus shipping if i remember correctly. there is a pinned thread on "MODS" and it has info about the DIC swap as well as steering wheel controls.

I have a stripped base model no cruise control, AM/FM basic radio, etc. 2011 Chevy Silverado an I added the d.i.c buttons an the connection was there an it works fine. Worth the money IMO.

Glad to hear that- for some reason I thought the W/T models didn't have the dot matrix display but rather the old-school LCD/bar type.
