Different door panels on 2012 trucks?

Are the interior panels on the 2011 or 2012 different than the earlier gmt900? I noticed right below the armrest the area is about 3-4" thicker than mine. Is it an air bag"? It would be much more difficult to reach down and adjust the seats with it sticking out. Also, the cup holder and glove area is different. When did they change?

2010 door panels are different than the 2007 - 2009. Cannot comment on the 2011 or 2012.

2011 are different too. So are the side mirrors, Rear View mirror, and the sun visors feel thinner/lighter?

^^^^Don't know about the other stuff you mentioned, but Putco thinks the side mirrors are the same from 2007-2011 and I believe the 2012 is also the same. I have Putco mirror covers, door handle covers and tailgate handle cover.

Are you comparing the LT/SLE to the LTZ/SLT interior maybe?

 

I knew of the panel change in 2010, no idea if anything was made different in my 2011.

^^^^Don't know about the other stuff you mentioned, but Putco thinks the side mirrors are the same from 2007-2011 and I believe the 2012 is also the same. I have Putco mirror covers, door handle covers and tailgate handle cover.

The shape and everything is the same just the outer edge of the glass is different then my 09 was. There no longer Power Fold-In/Auto-Dimming/Turn Signal either unless you get and LTZ which is dumb IMO, but whatever. While were on the subject does anyone know If I get a set of Turn Signal/ Auto-Dimming Outside mirrors if they will be Plug and Play on my truck?

On my 2011 the interior door handle is more forward and lower then my 2008. It drives me nuts, to have to lean forward and down. I liked the older models , you just had to reach down.

They will be if you get a LTZ!

That's the ONLY thing different I noticed with the trucks. Everything else is the same, that is if they are the same trim levels.

Yes I added them to my wifes 08 Tahoe and 10 Silverado. Only thing that will not work unless you replace the switches is the power fold

Cool thanks Ryan. IDC about the power fold as long as the Turn Signals, and Auto-Dimming Features work. I can just fold them in by hand.

I was comparing my SLT to a LTZ and under the armrest where my panel is set in ( a place about 16" tall x 20" wide) the new one was bumped out. If you look at the door panels closely you see a contour line in an area just below the armrest and it is different now. Just thought maybe side airbags were located there. The change only makes it worse for adjusting the seat. There must be a reason. Any ideas?

The door panel changed due to increased mass in the door. This was added to increase side impact protection in all doors. They also changes the panel that holds the lock buttons and window switches.
