......On another side note, In the back of my head i am remembering weird things that have gone on in the past with my hvac control module like the a/c randomly turning on in the middle of winter when my defrost is on... that was why i was gearing towards throwing that module at it to try and fix the current issue and other nagging issues. Worst case , i can relist the module back on ebay and sell it again if it does not fix the issue.

The AC is allowed to run during the defrost setting. This is normal, not a problem

Weird thing is that only started happening last year/ going into this year.. Never happened the first 4 years i owned it..

I did end up ordering the hvac module off amazon. For $125 it is worth it imo...It will be here tomorrow with the 1 day shipping i got..

If this does not fix it , at least i know the resistor / blower / and module is all new. At that point i will go to the dealer for them to hook up the tech 2 and diagnose it.

it has to go there anyways for a programming i believe,

if im wrong chevytech should chime in or other active tech

or at least a recalibration of the doors

Yeah, I don't think it's plug 'n play. Could be wrong though.

When i read the service manual it shows to plug it in, turn the truck on and do not interupt the calibration of it or it could cause issues. So i take it is plug and play from that.. hopefully...

I just went back into the service manual and copied and pasted this...

This might be useful for anyone else in the future who has to replace one of these.

HVAC Control Module Programming and Setup

Each of the following service procedures may require programming or setup procedures to be performed on the HVAC control module or HVAC actuators.

HVAC Control Module Replacement

If the HVAC control module is replaced, an automatic re-calibration of all the actuators will occur. No additional procedures are necessary.

HVAC Control Module Reprogramming

Do not reprogram the HVAC control module, unless directed by a service procedure, or a service bulletin.

Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement .

Remove the screws from the HVAC control module.

Depress the control assembly retaining tabs and remove the HVAC control module from the instrument panel.

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the HVAC control module.

Installation Procedure

Important: The key should be in the OFF position when connecting the electrical connectors to ensure proper calibration.

Connect the electrical connectors to the HVAC control module.

Install the HVAC control module into the instrument panel, ensuring that the HVAC control module retaining tabs lock into place.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the screws from the HVAC control module.

Tighten

Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement .

Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is calibrating.

If interrupted improper HVAC performance will result.

Start the vehicle and let run for one minute .

Swapped out the modules today. Did as directions said and everything seemed to go well. Tho i did not see a calibration take place...

I stop and started truck multiple times, from key and remote start and the heat turned on everytime! I just got to keep my fingers crossed that that fixed it!

The one thing i did notice when i got home tonight. The digital display with all the button lit up was warm but not HOT like the old one. I'm almost wondering if there wasnt something wrong with the old one cause it did get HOT!
