As an avid snowmoobiler/amateur ice fisherman this winter sucks. I have not put 1 mile on my sled. It has been nice keeping the truck clean all winter but dang I am bored. Anybody else bothered by the lack of winter, or am I the only one?

Same here is Wisconsin man. One of the worst winters I can remember. I see you have a Pro R in your picture. I rode a 800 Pro R switchback this year and hardly got to use her. Great sled though, we'll probably get 2 feet of snow in March!

My snowblower hasn't been started yet this year I did an oil change back in nov for nothing :(

We had hail and lightning today... they were calling for snow last night, but that didn't work out since it was about 40 degrees this morning lol

Finally gettting a touch of winter around here. Been snowing for awhile with 4-6 inches expected even though its been about 34 degrees all day. Only problem is there have been lots of accidents with 2 people dying already. There hasn't been a winter yet so people don't know how to drive yet.

I am! I'm so tired of this damn rain. I mean I can tow my sleds a couple of hours and get snow but it's nicer if you can use it closer to home too.....just tired of the dull dreary cold/rainy weather. Also as a photographer I really like being able to utilize the snowy weather for photo shoots but those have been far and few between this year too. It reminds me of a winter about 10 years ago that was just like this. Problem is that when you get a winter like this around here it often means you'll get inundated with mosquitos come summer....

We've had a ton of snow here in Anchorage......Just bought a snowblower this past summer. Best purchase EVER!!!!!! Shoveling over 100" for the winter just does not sound like fun

Yep! Saw where Alaska got hammered, this winter. The Carolinas, Kentucky, and Tennessee got quite a bit of snow the past couple of days. It's been hit or miss.

Here in Kansas, we've had less snow than Texas. Sheesh! In 65 years living here, this is the mildest winter I can remember. But... that's okay. The old body resents the cold a little more each year.

When I met my wife, some 46 years ago, she had lots of relatives west of the Twin Cities. Then, I thought "What a great place to retire. Snowmobiling... Ice fishing..." As the years have taken their toll, I want nothing to do with moving any farther north!!! Now I understand why all the old folks from the North go south for the winter!!!! :>)

I've got about 4-500 miles on my '11 Switchback Assault, that I just picked up this year, and about 200 on my '05 600 Classic that was just given to me this season by my father. While both of those mileage counts are horrible in most respects, I don't ride for mileage anymore and other than last weekend, I've spent the past month of weekends, and two weekdays, up north snowmobiling. Spent 4 days in the U.P. last week with the woman (for V-Day) and we rode on some really good conditions, for a winter like this. It's out there boys and girls, you just got to be willing to go get it when the getting is good, that's all. I have to, where I'm at ya see. Minimum of 100 miles usually just to ride the stupid things but it was born into my blood and I can't see myself doing anything else come winter.

Might be headed north to my family's lake front cabin in the mid-state area this weekend if this clipper that's supposedly heading our way makes it snow like they're calling for. If not, I might head to northern Ontario come the first/second weekend of March if need be.

I don't hear no fat lady!!!! :rollin:

There's no snow or rain here in Northstate because I bought a vehicle to handle it. Last year we had 140% of normal nearby, but we couldn't avail ourselves of it because I was driving the 'Vette then. Figures......

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
