As an avid snowmoobiler/amateur ice fisherman this winter sucks. I have not put 1 mile on my sled. It has been nice keeping the truck clean all winter but dang I am bored. Anybody else bothered by the lack of winter, or am I the only one?

As an avid boater here in North Alabama ...... I am ready for a early spring sorry you guys haven't gottenama much good sled weather up north this winter. As to your question am I bothered by the lack of winter? No ....Makes my powerbill lower, mild temp means very little use for my home HVAC unit. However it has been a very weird winter here as a matter of fact tornadoes have played havoc on N Alabama the last two years and expecting bad weather tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully you will get some snow before spring! If not look me up will be glad to take you out and show yu the lake !

Good dumping happening right now but it's all of 100 miles south of where I really need it. Oh well, getting to the cabin to ride tomorrow should be fun tonight with all this snow that's falling between here and there.

sw6416 - Sorry dude, I can't live without winter. Without winter I become a very ornery and grumpy person, just ask my GF. LOL. I do like to boat and jet ski in the summer and if everything works out the right way this spring, I'll officially be a first time boat owner. I do thank you for the invite though and although my GF would LOVE the heat down there, I'd be one miserable person unless I was living on the lake all summer.

Almost dropped $5000 on a new Western plow. I'm sure glad I didn't. Maybe there will be a few deals on slighty used plows in a few weeks!

LOL i actually bought a plow truck in september, after last years storm in Chicago I was ready, the darn thing has been used 3 times. Yesterday being the 3rd, luckily I only paid $1900 for the truck with the Western plow on it! You would figure, it's Chicago, it snows like crazy, well not this year.....

Crap. We are actually gonna have a winter up here after all. We just got about 4-5" today and blizzard watch out for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ended up with not only 12" fresh at my cabin up north but some of, if not the best, riding conditions all year up there. Had a Cat (no big surprise there lol) break down on us and cut the riding short by about an hour late Saturday afternoon and no riding yesterday but otherwise a great day of riding for once and all within 100 mile of home instead of 300.

There's no snow or rain here in Northstate because I bought a vehicle to handle it. Last year we had 140% of normal nearby, but we couldn't avail ourselves of it because I was driving the 'Vette then. Figures......

The first year I owned an AWD vehicle we hardly got any snow at all that year! Made up for it the next year though.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
