5.7L Engine Replacement

Hi.

 

I just bought a high mileage (254,000 miles) '99 GMC Yukon, to use for business, which is CCTV installations. It's actually in very good shape and has had all major components, save the engine, replaced in th last few years. Anyway, that engine seems to be a little tired, with lower than usual oil pressure, so I'm thinking I should change it out for a new one. Of course, I would like one that runs stronger than the stockers did, get reasonable mileage, so keeping it fuel injected and at about 9.0:1 compression would be best. Anyone have a favorite supplier they could recommend to me?

This would work pretty easily with say, a 1990 right?

Shouldn't have to do much to drop in?

 

Jasper offers a 5.7 with 100k warranty on it for $1800, I'd have a hard time spending $5k+ though...

You get what you pay for.Shit you go to the junkyard and get vortec 350 for 500 bucks.The HT383 will go AN easy 300k with 3k oil changes and coolant flushes.Plus with headers,tune,intake you have enough hp/tq to pull anything.You can build your own 383 vortec for 1,000 bucks thats what im doing.But this is a complete drop in motor bolt the intake manifold up,oil,coolant and your good to go.Im not sure what ks was trying to say.Ive heard some great results from this motor 5k is a alot,Would i buy this motor?No.even if i had the money?no.Why?I like to stick with my saying "built not bought".

What I was saying is would everything from my 1990 bolt right on to the 383? Even though on the website that isn't one of the years included? And also saying $5k is out of my range, would be paying 2 or 3 times what the truck is worth for the motor. I'm sure I could build up a motor for less like you said or buy a Jasper.

IIRC the crank sensor is different,But besides that yes it will youll also need a vortec intake and if you want to keep the TBI then get a carb to TBI adapter would be a great upgrade great for that truck.Or you can buy vortec heads,vortec intake,460 lift cam,and a custom chip you should be happy with that setup should make an easy 260hp/360TQ to the wheels of course with headers and a good exhaust.
