The owners manual are written as such to make sure you buy GM approved products (dexos) so GM makes more money and only get your vehicle serviced by a GM dealer. So far its working, I read recently that dealers have seen a increase in lube services and aftermarket sales.

A Engineer is just someone who, everyday learns more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing. Or as we said at the DOT; Why do it right when we can do it wrong?

All the time. I deal with CAT engineers, they are super book smart but when it comes to real life mechanical knowledge, they usually have ZERO. "pretendgineer" LOL. They could tell you the elasticity of toothpaste but couldn't get the tube open if they tried LOL. Engineers piss me off.

I love the statement about them learning till they know everything about nothing. That might appear on our whiteboard at work lol. Sad thing is it seems to take them about 3 months from graduating engineering school till they reach that point. I am actually one shhh dont kill me, but I am at the 2 year diploma level and work a field job. The 5 year university professional engineers like to come in and make impossible impractical recommendations on equipment that they could not even locate or tell its purpose and relation to other equipment. One was adding a sample point for tar and I had to show them the lines, I mentioned that it would plug off after every time and would never be used. There were plenty of other options for running it properly but he said that we could just unplug it with a welding rod every time and that's why we make xx dollars an hour.
