Changed headlight bulbs and since I had the airbox out I blew that out and cleaned the filter a little. Really miss how easy it was to change bulbs on my '06 and '01. More complicated and I have to do it more often, go figure.

Funny story, my 2006 still has the same high and low beams it came with in 2011.

What have you done to keep the rust away? I see a lot of the 900's around here now with rusted out bed sides.

Totally agree with this. As far as chips go the paint on my 2006 with 246k miles looks better than the paint on my 2014 Cruze with 50k miles. That's no joke either. This new paint is terrible.

Keep it clean sealed and waxed

See a lot around with rotted bed sides. They rust from the inside out. I know mine has rust inside the fender I just keep oiling it.

Gotta keep the bedsides washed out. You have to get up inside the sides and wash them out. Do a good job, and the the rockers will start popping long before the bedsides. Just like mine. :(

I've never seen a vehicle rust from the outside in.

Mine is the same way. Rockers are shot, and the cab corners aren't far behind, but the bedsides are fine yet. I also have fender flares though...

I don't think I replaced the headlights in my '06. It was just stupid easy to do. I'm hoping these going so often is just me not using dielectric grease. I guess I'll find out since I finally put some on these. If not then I guess I'll be going down to the cheaper sylvanias, or even a different brand.

That's one item that's been great on my truck. I still have every OE bulb in the truck as it was originally shipped, except for the Silverstar low beams. I have the OE low beam bulbs in a ziploc bag somewhere - they're still good too.

Go HID or stick to the cheaper bulbs. The higher dollar bulbs burn out too quick, but you get good visibility. Disable the running light feature and you'll be amazed at how long the bulbs will last in your gmt900

I was gonna comment on that, but forgot! Would've said exactly what CJ just said.

I disabled the DRLs the minute I got the truck home from the dealer. Forgot which fuse I pulled, but it was in the underhood compartment.

HIDs are friggin awesome. We upgraded the Marquis to them a few years back. Best thing I've ever done to a vehicle. My only complaint is that they're a little too far into the blue spectrum for my tastes. I would've preferred 5k color temp, but the place I bought them from only offered 6k. They've become bluer as they've aged. This pic was taken when they were just installed - the difference between the halogen and HID side-by-side is unreal.

I bought the kit from https://coolbulbs.comafter talking with the owner on the phone - he knows his stuff. The components have proven themselves to be good quality too, except for one bulb that has a "bouncing" beam that started after 2 years of pounding on MA roadways. I'm assuming the H4 style bulb's hi/lo beam shield (it flips from top to bottom when high or low is triggered - doesn't change intensity, just the height of the beam) is broken internally - can see the beam bounce over a bumpy road, as if the entire assembly was loose. The other bulb is still fine after 3 years, as are all the ballasts.

Dare you to look underneath the flares. I spotted my first rocker bubble about a week ago.

My headlights are still great, even though the lenses are hazing some.

I bet there's some rust under the flares. This bed is getting junked eventually anyway for a rust free one.

Plastic liners and about once a week during winter pressure wash the wheel wells
