Viewing the solar eclipse this weekend

It's been since maybe elementary school since I've seen a solar eclipse. They are saying that my area should be able to view it on Sunday. Since it's been so long, I'd like to be able to look at it. The only problem is that I don't have any of the special viewing glasses.

 

I've heard that you can use a welding shield/mask to view it though. Will that work?

 

I guess this is the nerd in me coming out but I've always found this stuff pretty interesting.

I watched one in High School so probably 93-94 through a welding helmet and it was awesome. Don't try an Auto Darkening helmet though it wont darken

 

Also 2 pin size holes in a piece of paper will allow you to see it as well. The helmet was better tho

Damn I remember that too! But if I understand what I just read it will only be visible in the western US and Canada. I was 9 last time that happened, looks like I'll miss out this time so another 18 years!
