Door sill/rocker protection

I noticed my door sill area has become very scratched as that is where you commonly step to get into the truck. I didn't like any of the protectors as they will still scuff up and look rough. So today I had a solution take form- I bought a bedliner kit that can be tinted to match and had a friend who does body work spray it on. This really isn't a DIY project- he used a DA sander to prep, a solvent to clean the metal, extensive masking and then sprayed it using the supplied spray gun with the paint mixed in (this is a much more complex process than I realized- my paint took no less than 5 or 6 individual components mixed together to get my paint. I am very happy with the result and I expect it will be quite durable. Only a quick phone pic for right now:

That is a sharp idea! Wish I'd read of this 8 months ago before I put the brushed scuff plates on. Guess I could still lay it on the lowest portion, which is where most contact would take place anyway.

Interesting, looks good! First time I seen this done, other side like that too?

Yes, both sides were sprayed. I don't have passengers often but I had both done.

These work great for me. They are actually GMT-800 sill protectors

The plastic ones work well enough I'm sure but this is also sprayed under the rocker panels, hopefully preventing damage from rocks thrown from the tire and such. Plus, it's different. :D

I have the same ones on my 2011 sierra

Do you happen to have part number for the GMT800 covers?

Do a search (can't on my phone) I had a topic back in 2010 on this with photos and part numbers

NEVERMIND: here it is AVS stepshield part AVS-91636. I ordered from summit racing. Cost was $35.69

I like both ideas, I couldn't find any for a 2007+ crew cab Chevy. I ended up buying clear 3M film from a sign company in town that will do your sills for (gulp) about $200.00. I bought a two foot piece off of their thirty inch roll, cut it into (4) thirty inch by six inch pieces and did the sills myself. I'm no professional applicator and frankly I rushed it a bit, but other than a few tiny bubbles it turned out pretty well. I think a heat gun would have helped, but it only cost me about $24.00, so I can replace them when they get scuffed up, and maybe try a bit harder next time...

The bedliner kit was around $100 but I have two bottles left over. I may eventually have the rear wheel wells done instead of getting the plastic liners from GM. But to do that I'd need to leave the truck overnight which I'd need to plan ahead for as I live like 60 miles from my friends shop.

I would do one or the other as quickly as you can. I had an '07 that got a rock stuck between the wheel housing and the rear quarter panel causing an outward dimple that looked horrible. I took it somewhere to have it looked at and they massaged it the best they could without actually doing body work, They did OK, but I always noticed it even if no one else did. I have liners on the new one and can't check, but look to see if the gaps between the two will close with bedliner. You can also buy aerosol cans of bedliner, I do the toes on my steel toed boots with it, they last twice as long
