Minor Wreck in Black Beauty

So this is totally my fault.... Saw somebody I knew glanced over, some lady walked out in the crosswalk in front of the jeep i rear ended, boom there I was nose first into a teal cherokee. So after I freaked out I started talking to her and she was very cool about it and said it was her husbands work jeep and she wasn't going to pursue anything against me. Didnt even write down my license plate number. So I took her information and got to looking at my bumper and chuckled a bit. It put a big dent in her jeep and just scratched my tow hook, scratched/ dented my bumper. So the body shop want $630. So I found one from GMparts direct for 270. Pretty easy install? I've never done any body work but I figure its just bolt off the old and bolt on the new.

Honestly if it was mine and I didn't want a bumper replacement I'd leave it. :dunno:

But if you want to replace with another factory bumper, yeah it's a cinch. I think mine had 8 bolts holding it on.

So the $270 turned into $429 with shipping and handling. :M16:

Now I'm seriously considering a good aftermarket.

Thoughts?

Check with your dealer. When I ordered some parts my dealers price was less than online + shipping.

There is a seller on ebay that sells that bumper for $219 shipped. I will have to look it up for you.

I just bought a truck and I got the same damage to mine. It is not too bad but still bugs you to see it. Also the plastic retainer can be snapped back in. I had 3 that let loose. All you do is pull the center part of the retainer out and pull the plastic part and chrome part together and push the center part back in. Very easy.

Also after looking at you picture more closely it is exactly the same damage. I pushed the dent back out to the original position. I put a bottle jack between the frame and the bumper with a piece of rubber between the jack and bumper. And I just slowly pushed the bumper out to the original position. I still have a few minor dings left but not anything to worry about. I am going to wait till next summer to replace my bumper so I can have I little more fun this winter in the snow and not worry about the bumper as much!!
