2012 GMC SIERRA - Hit deer : disappointing repair job

I can definitely understand. We all work hard for our money and deserve to have something nice. I just picked up my truck today after having the roof replaced and dent in the tops of the door fixed after a tree fell on it during Te hurricane. I went over everything well also. Nothing major yet until I see it in bright light. The thing that bothers me the most is now having that car fax with a red flag to bring down the value.

Does the dealer have a body shop on their lot? The GMC dealer where I live does not, and sends all body and paint work to a 3rd party shop, and they warrenty their work.

For me this means that I would NEVER use their facility for body or paint work.

As far as your vehicle goes, that work is herendous, I mean "Ray Charles could have done a better job :) "

That is unbelievable. You must be freakin' beside yourself with anger. Take the pics to the owner of the dealership and explain that you plan on asking the city council for a permit to demontrate/picket in front of the dealership until the issues are remedied.

It's dealerships like this one that drive loyal GM customers over to the dark side, be it Dodge Ford or Toyota. Yuck, I just barfed in my mouth a little on that last one.

Good luck, and stick to your guns until they make it right.

I would take the truck and your pics to the GM or owner of the dealership and see what they have to say. If you don't get satisfaction there I would tell the insurance they need to take care of making it right at a shop of your choice. I would be more understanding if the truck was older 5 years or so but now a 2012..

Age has nothing to do with the quality of a job. This sounds like they sent it out to a low price shop and that is what he got in exchange. My wifes car got t-boned when it was 9 or 10 years old, thought they would total it but it came back flawless. owner/operator bodyshop the way to go.

Kevan and jhm.... ya.... i could somewhat accept it if the truck was ..say 4 -5 yrs old,,,, 50,000 miles... but its 8 months old with 6 k on it. :(

Gurrzt.. the shop i took it to is a big local Chevy dealership. Full Collision shop on site. Preferred Met Life repair shop.... so i just don't understand what went wrong with this vehicle.

Sil 540... Ya.... this is crazy.... I've been mad, sad, angry..etc...and more.

I have a case number from Tricia / GM Customer Service , she PM'ed me shortly after i originally posted this and we were going back and forth thru e-mail.

Other then her sending me the case #, i haven't heard from her lately.

And ..the thing that just keeps reminding me of this BS.. is that my passenger front tire still rubs on the inner fender well at full turn..!!!!

Like ....every time i pull out of a parking spot or back into the driveway.....i hear it.. it drives me absolutely F'in nuts..!!!!

Posting these pictures for Tricia, these would not go thru to her e-mail addy....

This is when I first got the truck back...

"Sierra" is crooked...and with the rain, you can't see it, but the body side moulding is all scratched

When they re-painted the door, they must of pryed off the inner panel, chipping and scratching the inside bottom of the door.

This is the top of the passenger door, above the window. to the right is just the flash reflection, but the bubbles/circle area on the left is blemished, its the paint, under the clear coat, its about the size of a golf ball, a bit bigger.

This is the rear pass. door.... over spray on the bottom half of the door. It didn't quite show up too well in this pic.

...........so..... i take the truck back to the "Prefered GM" collision shop.............

and this is what i get back the SECOND time.........

They cleaned my interior alright......

Nice mark on my leather seat ...eh....

IMG_2239.jpg

Like..... Did they use a pipe wrench to take off and put back on the antenna...???

IMG_2245.jpg

And.... this was just unbelievable.....

I go to get the truck back the 2nd time, go in ... "Yep...Your all set" ... they pull the truck up, ( its dark out) we go over it, i get in to drive away..... and this bolt is in the center counsel,,,, I'm like ... What the heck is this from?

i was going to go back in,,,, but ,,, decided to just drive away..... i put the bolt in myself...

But .... Tricia....

This is TOTALLY UN-ACCEPTABLE.... What else was left off that is unseen...????

People might say bad things about small town bodyshops... But when it comes to deer, the one in my hometown knows their stuff. Granted there can be a wait during rut... Lol

Preferred Met Life repair shop.... so i just don't understand what went wrong with this vehicle.

What part of "preferred = lowest cost bidder" are you not understanding?

I think he got the understanding down, the accepting of such a shotty job is what he is not tolerating (and rightly so.) Regardless of who is paying who and the age of a vehicle the customer MUST be happy with the product or the product is return or never purchased. I'd be absolutely livid to get my truck back in the condition and would demand a rental equivalant to the vehicle be "repaired" at their cost and would keep it until repair are done correctly. I can say this because I've been through this, I had a rental for over three months, that I didn't pay for, because of this same kind of dis-service.

I feel your pain. Today on my way home, my drivers side window fell right off the track when I pushed the button and it was jammed half way open. I went straight to the body shop and they fixed it right away and sincerely apologized. I highly doubt there are any flawless, perfect body shops out there.
