Some other good forums are Cumminforum.com and dieseltruckresource.com.

The Gen 3 trucks had problems with ball joints. If yours go out and you have the $$$, install a set of Carli ball joints. They are about $600 for the set but they are fully rebuildable and a lifetime warranty. They are the best ball joints if you plan on lifting or running bigger tires.

And the power that you can make with these trucks for cheap is amazing.

Have you considered installing gauges EGT, Boost and Fuel Pressure)?

another Very good Forum is Allpar; The Internet's NUMBER ONE Source for ANYTHING Mopar Related from the Very Early Days, to the Very Latest and Greatest coming out of Chrysler Group LLC! http://www.allpar.com/ LOTS of Good People there, ranging from Enthusiasts, to ACTUAL Chrysler Employees ranging from Sales People, Service Techs and Parts Managers, Assembly Line Workers, and even a Retired Engineer or Two! (Much like how Rich and NitroCherokee are our Men on the Inside of GM!)

Hope you have better luck with Dodge than I did. After my dakota, I'm done with any Chrysler product made after 1997 (except the Viper.).

assuming its 4x4, congrats on a real hd front end, solid axel is the only thing that should be under any hd truck. ifs is for cars.

I garauntee upping the tire size will net you a MPG increase, these I-6 Dodges are Torque monsters, they love to lug. (I had an 01 on 35's, 1400RPM @65mph, 20MPG MAX, 18 AVG)

18 avg?? Nice! So far in the two days I've had in I'm averaging about 15mpg. And I've been trying to be light on the accelerator lol

The 265/75/17 tires seem small on that truck, but they are the factory size BFGs.

Maybe once it's time for new, I'll look into bigger. I thought going to a larger tire decreases your fuel efficiency ?

I know multiple people who get 18-20 mpg on 35's. for some reason, the trucks don't mind the big tires. Yours may be a whole different story, since the new ones aren't known for getting as great of mileage.

Like i mentioned.. one size up to a 285 70 17 would look beatiful!!

And/or level it with a 315/70/17

Basically, Steer Clear of Any Chrysler Product made after May 7th, 1998 to November of 2010. 2001-2008 were the Darkest years, because they were under the Cold German Thumb of Daimler-Benz, which did MOST of the Ruining of Chrysler. (Technically, my Plymouth is a 1998 Model, but was Built on December 17th, 1997; which makes it one of the Last cars made by the TRUE Chrysler Corporation.)

Glad you were able to get something good to replace the last one. Feel free to stick around and keep us updated as to how she works out for you.

So far so good.... even my fuel economy numbers (so far) are matching that of my 5.3L Sierra. Go figure.

This thing is just a beautiful piece of machinery. I can hardly wait til spring and I can hook up the RV to it!
