I haven't spent a whole lot of time in Texas. I've had a couple time for just a night in San Antonio. Where I ate wasn't that great.

 

I did this and shared in August, Thought I would resurrect it.

I went to a place in Texas near lake Lewisville called Cowboys BBQ. There's one old guy (the owner) that runs the kitchen. Best ribs I've had, fall off the bone and melt in your mouth.

Cooper's in Llano, TX is one of my favorites. George Bush (jr) used to have them cater when he hosted functions at his ranch. Ironworks in Austin was good too as was Railhead in Fort Worth. The first two have a little more down home feel and I spoke with owners at both and they were happy to school a silly yankee like myself on proper BBQ.

Beginning of last bird season some Minnesotans came down. Turns out they had been all around the country in BBQ competitions, and man it was good. Best BBQ beans I've ever had too.

Just put down a Hot Italian sub, hot sopressata, hot ham, L,T pepper jack cheese, hot pepper relish, and oil/vinegar. Good stuff, Im also a sucker for a nice Italian dinner.
