Wow that's awesome. It doesn't involve any oiling does it?

Cabin filters, I remember those. That reminds me I should look and see if they went back to them in '09 or not. 01' had it and the '06 didn't, or if it did that thing must have been horrible because it never got changed lol.

Bought a new vacuum, it sucks more than my 10ish something year old one. Love my old carpet though it ate the hell out of it :-D

The things that interest you when you're out of work and can't really do anything physical...

I still haven't owned a vehicle with a cabin air filter yet.

I totally jinxed myself by talking about how our Grand Marquis still had the OEM original 30 year, 230k mile starter in it. Thing took a dump on me last week. Rest of the parts just came in today, so got that job out of the way. New Remy starter (made in china :noway: ), Motorcraft solenoid, a new ground cable, and the positive cable (from solenoid to starter) out of the '00 Jimmy I parted out. Wasn't quite long enough, so I cut the red accessory feed off the harness and spliced it into the black cable, then crimped on the lugs, & covered the splice and lugs with Ancor marine heat shrink tubing. Also got rid of some excess useless garbage that's been hanging off the side of the cats and causing exhaust leaks the past 10 years, as you can see in the pic.

Hope the curse of the GMC Jimmy has been exorcised from that cable ... :fingersx:

Guess the starter has been in decline for several years, since I can't remember the car ever cranking over as fast as it does now, lol!

A week before that, the Volvo started crapping out too, wtf - hell of a week for automotive products. Rigged up a fuel pressure gauge in the driver's door (Shraeder valve is under car - not in engine compartment) & went for a drive with the gauge down on my leg, lol. It crapped out, and fuel pressure took a dive from 40 to 20 psi - after some cranking it went to zero. Now at least I knew what direction to head in! I had shotgunned a crank position sensor the week prior, since that's a common failure, and it didn't fix the issue - of course, my luck. I managed to get it back home after it died a second time on me, & I yanked the fuel pump relay - date on it was September 18, 1992 - been in there a while! Threw in a relay out of the parts Volvo - that one was dated 2004. Put over 400 miles on it so far without a single hiccup. At least it was a cheap & relatively easy fix.

Nice! I'll look for one the next time I go to change it.

Well, time to order some crap for the new track toy. Needs an air filter and oil change. And a crap load of simple green and 303. I'll take some before and after, I'm pretty sure when I'm done people will be suprised away for the price. Besides your average GM interior wear, it's in pretty good shape. Probably get some new or less used door panels for it, might order new cloth and foam for the seats(not bad, just has a busted seam) Other than that no real plans.

Going to get some UV dye, since he isn't 100% it was the rear main. Was reading a few other cheap and easy parts can get leaky/broken when working in the area, so dye first to trace it.

Went to the salvage yard since they recently got a smashed up 05 Silverado in. Didn't have any luck this time, everything I was looking for was either broken or gone already.
