Leveling Kit Removed and New Tires Installed

After 65,000 miles with my levelig kit and larger tires, I finally went back to factory specs. The truck looked good if it was on a perfectly level surface. But anytime it was on any sort of an incline the rear end sagged. The trucked looked horrible everytime I hooked the trailer up or loaded the bed.

 

So anyway, I took the truck up to the local tire shop. I had the rough country keys removed and the factory keys installed. They took off the BFG AT 285/70/17 tires. I had a set of P265/70/17 Michelin LTX MS2 tires installed. I also had 4 Monroe shocks installed. The shop set the front back down to the factory ride height and finished everything up with an alignment.

 

The truck looks great and rides the way it is supposed to. I plan on getting a pop up camper next spring and the truck should tow much better with these tires. The Michelins I put on weigh 20 lbs less per tire and ride much better than the E range ATs. Plus, having the factory rake back will be better for towing and hauling. I am a happy camper!

They ride great. I have a set on my 94' Silverado 2WD and they are smooth. They last forever too.

Looks good stock. I tow with my truck and put a level on, but I put taller block in the back, to keep the factory level of rake. I call it my poor mans lift. that's always an option if you want to level it again later.

Yea, I thought about putting a taller block or AAL when I had the leveling kit to even things out for towing. I chose to return it to factory specs because of the overall ride quality and towing performance. These new tires will be much better for towing. I camp in the the mountains and those big heavy tires are sluggish on steep grades pulling a camper.

 

Your truck looks good though. It's got a great stance. It's got that aggressive look but still some rake for towing and hauling. I went back and forth for a while on whether or not I would return to stock. I am happy with my decision though!

thats a great looking truck. im in the same boat as you, but i like the extra height the leveling kit gives. Im going to add rear AAL or a block to get the rake back.

Yea I took the brush guard off and traded it to have a factory Silverado exhaust installed off of a 2010 Silverado. I just couldn't take my aftermarket exhaust anymore. It sounded great. But like I said, I do a decent amount of towing. The exhaust made my head want to explode towing boats / trailers in the mountains. My truck was designed better by the engineers for the type of use it gets. I enjoyed doing all the mods over the past years though!

Looks good. I put those same Michelins on my wife's truck and they ride great. I'll probably get them for my truck when the current tires need replacing...
