Ok..but you did say GM installed which would imply factory versus dealer installed.

GM mechanic installed..... Everywhere else I said dealer installed... Sorry for the confusion. He's gonna get back to me in the morning about it. It doesnt affect my warranty anyway

If it never leaves the pavement, it's doubtful you will have problems. But if you bought a truck to get down roads cars cant go down, it's likely going to add extra wear and tear. I put the kit in my truck so I don't rip my bumper off chasing rigs all over Western Canada.. The roads we drive on can be BRUTAL. It was after taking it down a particularly bad lease road, that I ended up with a snapped sway bar link. Prior to the RC kit, I had replaced all 4 ball joints, 3 were getting bad, so I just did all 4, so I cant comment on the wear on those...

 

It really depends on how you use your truck IMO... Pavement princess, probably won't be an issue.. Buying a 4x4 to use it like a 4x4.... That's a different story. It certainly affected my VMax. I took it in twice in like 4 months for new front end noses, after putting the RC kit in. But the roads I drive on are unlike what most will drive on.

 

I have to lean heavily toward the opinion that the roads you drive on and how hard you drive the truck are the main issue here, not the leveling kit. I ran a 2"RC on my last truck, a GMT 900 '07 silverado, for over 45K and traded it in at over 70K. The front end was tight as ever and I use it on the farm hopping in and out of fields every spring and fall.

 

Does a leveling kit increase wear on parts, yes. If you keep it at 2" or under it won't be substantial at all. To the OP, put an RC kit on it, align it, and enjoy it.

I've got a Ready Lift Level installed on my truck for about 60,000 kms and have had no problems. I take it down an old "wagon Trail" 2-3 times a summer where the terrain is not so nice and "knock on wood" the truck and suspension has held up great.

I know my truck is is GMT800, but i have had my leveling kit on since about 50k miles and i have 140k now.. still orig front parts excluding hubs. I would not be afraid to level your GMT900

The dealer used an aftermarket kit and will just eat the cost if something fails, or overlook the lift and warranty parts that might not be covered otherwise. There is no certification process to dealer mods- you can get trucks with dealer installed suspension lifts in the 4"-6" range in some places and that will be the same deal- no warranty issues, as long as you bring it back to them.

Also, another thing to consider is larger rear blocks. If you tow or load your bed it will then sag in comparison to the front of the truck which has some factory rake to it. I added a 3" rear block to mine too and like it. I like the look of a slightly raked truck though.

i installed the RC on my truck around 120,000 and i am at around 165,000 now. the outer axel boot on the passenger side is split, i havent gotten around to fixing it. i do not blame this on the level though, my truck gets worked pretty hard. if i had to do it again i would stick with the RC kit.
