Things have been slow around here, some googling brought up this-

Kurt McNeil, GM vice president of U.S. sales operations, said the Detroit-based automaker will announce pricing, fuel economy and various performance statistics for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra later this month.

We plan to put smiles on the faces of our customers, he said during a conference call Friday to discuss GMs February sales.

Merged the two threads going on this subject.

By the way... things are not on schedule, despite what this article says. I don't know exactly what is going on but there is definitely an issue that is holding things up.

The trucks were unveiled in December. We were told then that the specs would be "available soon", which in the automotive industry usually equates to 4-6 weeks. We're now nearly three months out and my contacts indicate to me there is an issue. GM has a track record of announcing horsepower very soon after a vehicle is unveiled. Look at the C7! It came out after the trucks and we already know the specs. Something is wrong.

My personal opinion, backed by 100% pure speculation, is that they are trying to get more power out of the engines or are having a hard time hitting one of their goals (be it power or fuel economy) with pre-production units

They still trying to figure out if 1 Liter of oil usage in 1000 km is normal...

That's what I was thinking, trying to keep the trucks from burning of the oil before the oil change is due haha

Na there still trying to figure how how to get the Eco out of the 6.2L Ecotec V8 in a truck that's the weight of a house and about as aerodynamic as a brick...

All kidding aside though I hope they get it right for their sake.

I thought the reason they didn't release specs until next to the launch date is because they don't want ford or RAM to one up them. This happened when GM released the 2011 HD lml, they released specs with highest HP and TQ in the market. Then ford did a flash update to the power-stroke and beat GM's numbers by a few digits. The corvette is pretty much in a class of its own so they didn't mind releasing it's numbers right away. IMO

This is what I was thinking. A '14 5.3 with 350+ hp & better fuel economy(with any luck) would make it tougher to sell the current 315 hp. Most would wait a couple more months or at least see them side by side. They need to keep their monthly quotas rolling on the Silverados & Sierras.
