EPA to raise gasoline prices...?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration's newest anti-pollution plan would ping American drivers where they wince the most: at the gas pump. That makes arguments weighing the cost against the health benefits politically potent.

The proposal to reduce sulfur in gasoline and tighten auto emission standards, released Friday, would raise gasoline prices by less than a penny per gallon, the Environmental Protection Agency says. But the oil industry points to its own study putting the cost between 6 and 9 cents a gallon.

Hmmm whose figure on cost do you trust more? A bunch of bureaucratic idiots or the people whose job it is to know? The EPA has too much say in things and needs to be disbanded.

Neither. One makes stupid ass emissions laws the other price gouges the hell out of me when their whenever their bored and their balls itch

I agree with chawkins.. but in all reality, hitting an already struggling economy with more burden.. will not help the health of the nation. Take away additional money that can be used for outdoor activities, healthier groceries and the such.. and you get an unhealthier America ;)

I guess the EPA is claiming that this will make the gas burn more efficiently because it will be cleaner which will lead vehicles to get better MPG. I guess it will have the biggest affect on Direct Injection engines, but who knows what to believe.

we already have that swill piss water gas here in CA, then throw in E10,-E15 and you really have a issue. maybe for the newer engines coming out in the future, but now the mpg/cost is terrible..lost about 2 mpg with this new gas, at $4.30+ a gal. now the rest of you 49'ers can enjoy what we here in CA have to put up with.

BTW- i see in the near future that ALL states will have federal mandatory emission testing under CA specs, enjoy it while it lasts...

I just saw on the news the other night Montreal was paying 1.51/L...what is that in USD/gallons?? About $5.50....?? They continued on to say that the average price Canada wide 2 days ago was 1.34. Which is roughly $5 a gallon right?

Right now in fort mcmurray Alberta. Home to the second or third largest oil reserve in the world the fuel price was 1.38/L this morning for 87. You guys have it made down there, Especially when the country you're sitting in has barely any energy independence and ur paying lower prices than most countries that do.

I for one don't think it has much to do with the oil companies at all really. They don't control how much it's for sale at the pump. It's supply and demand. Im not tryin to insult anyone or hurt feelings but Americans make up of 5% of the worlds population but consume almost 1/4 of its energy. I think it's safe to say you guys better prepare to pay higher gas prices, it's coming. No politics are allowed to be discussed but we all know what pipeline needs to be approved to help this situation on a global scale. Each oil company around here is prepared to create almost 50% more "supply" but can't expand anymore due to pipeline limitations...so up goes the price..

All in all I really don't care, my fuel bill per month for my truck and the wifes car is only $350 give or take $50...my electricity bill the past 3 months was $450 a month. The amount I spend on food for my wife, myself and our 3 year old surpasses my mortgage payment and insurance combined. Fuel is still cheap. Let it go higher for all I care, less line ups at the pump and maybe truck prices will fall a little :)

US gallon is like 3.75 liters for reference.

not to be a butt head, but..when we talk, you up north, and us down south, going from gal/liters, US dollars to Canadian, miles/kilometers, feet/meters, it just make my head hurt..:lol:

here is something WE can all use to make our life easier..NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE.. :seeya:

'02 Corvette Z06 done up by John Lingenfelter(sp?). That guy knows how to make stuff run!

'69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 (has to be manual)

'69 Plymouth Road Runner w\426 Hemi(also in manual)

Some of our drinks here come in liters and the rest in ounces. I know temps in F and C. Know how many inches in a meter and how many ounces in a liter. It all helps when talking to the northerners

It's not really rocket science LOL. Not to be a butthead but it's really not that hard.

The actual conversion is alot closer to 3.737.

1.40/L x 3.73 = $5.2318 gallon

Pretty simple math really... :seeya:

There are tons of threads on climate change (in either direction) on youtube.

This was interesting though...

Remember, they cannot put something on the internet that is not true. :fingersx:

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
