Question About Transmission Shifting - 2010 2500HD 6.0

Bought the truck with 16,500 miles on it in January of this year. It currently has 26,000 miles. When the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd, it's like someone is shifting a standard and slowing letting out on the clutch, if that makes sense. Does this sound normal to others of you that have the 6.0? This is the first 6 speed I've owned and coming from a '97 Z71 it is a lot different with six gears. I know I can bring it to the dealer under warranty, but I wanted to make sure there is a reason to first. Thanks!

FYI - Not what you're describing but I have an 11 that seems to shift a lot from 2 to 3 and back. Took it in for that and was told to drive it harder, get on it more.

my 09 does this also. 2nd to 3rd shifts are terrible. Great engineering from a great company

My dealer says this is normal.

Don't forget that in almost all of the new vehicles today they have a "learning" feature that takes a while to learn how a person drives. That being said, if you have been driving very differently, towing, then city, then highway etc, the truck is just trying to be in a mode that best suits your driving style. I hope that makes sense.

Yeh, not much difference in my driving really. It sounds like it is something that is "normal" and I'll just have to learn to live with it. But with the way it sounds; like a clutch being slowly let out, that something eventually is going to wear out sooner than it should be. Oh well.

I brang it in and reprogrammed the engine and transmission. No more soft shifting, etc.

Drivers in here get a blackbear tune, etc. as I live in canada i used a performance shop who reprogrammed the transmission and engine as I instructed him on my driving habits.

Removing the throttle response delay, transmission searching for gears, and so on.

Yes, I did all of this while my truck was under warranty since I hated the truck downshifting while I merged on the highway and it would shift from 5 to 3 and be very annoying to me. I have brang my truck in several times for minor warranty issues and they did not look at anything to see if i modified the computer when I had work done on the truck at the dealer.

Throttle response from the factory was also annoying. So everyone with the 6 speed 08-present have what I removed with a tune.

Good Luck Scooby !!
