For those guys who have 2014 & have had them on for a while is there any negative impact that come directly from having it leveled?

 

20K so far...no issues with my level. You can look at your angles of your CV shaft and see that there is more strain and also on the UCA ball joint itself. Might cause premature wear so you are replacing ball joints at 50K or so I've read. If you are that worried about it, put on a set of Cognito UCAs or use a differential drop kit. Or go with a real lift like BDS.

295 55 20 on stock rims will fit with no leveling kit. I did it on mine no rubbing.

 

I don't run 20s, but lots of readers do, so post up some pics! :dunno:

295/60/20, w/ 20x9 +1 offset wheels with a 2.5in level... think this will work with out rubbing and/or very slim trimming?

Might depend on brand (Goodyear, Toyo, etc.) and style (Duratrac, A/T II, M/T, etc) of tire as actual measurement of tire can vary even though they are same size. I'm running Toyo A/T II 295/60/20 (33.9") with a 2.5" level and stock +27mm high country rims. Just barely rubs (like 1/16" barely) the inner liner at full lock in reverse. You'd possibly have some moderate rubbing with that +1 offset rim and that size. I could be wrong but you'd probably have to do a decent amount of trimming. A 305/55/20 might be better for that offset just by the research I did before I got mine but again just throwing out my opinion. Anyone please feel free to correct if I'm off base. May just depend on actual tire dimensions though. What brand/style were you looking at?

thanks bro! im looking at the 20x9 +1 fuel maverick D5372 and id like to either get Terra grappler G2's or the Toyo's! im looking for a little tire outside of the fender well atleast that's the stance id like to achieve if its more flush than anything that is fine, but definitely cant have it inside the fender well, I don't want any rubbing and would be okay with very minor trimming and or the zip tie trick

No sir. That's under normal street/highway driving in the High Country. I can't bring myself to off-road a $55k truck other than in and out of a field from time to time, and I cringe when I do that. Edited by bwilloby46

Lol trucks are meant to get dirty! I always take my trucks in the mud.

Finally gonna get around to getting a level kit installed. Was hoping I could hit around the $300 range Ive been seeing you guys talk about but up here its looking like $450-$550. Gonna go with 2" to keep a lil bit of rake since I'll be towing a boat this summer dont wanna sit nose high.

 

Im on stock tires/wheels for now prob wont upgrade there for another 6 months or so. Thinking of going with Terra Grapplers not sure on size yet though.

 

 

Good looking truck everyone so many diff looks but all great at the same time.

finally someone else makes sense!! I get made fun of cus I love the look of the off roading trucks but won't take my baby off road! All show! Most she will touch is a slick boat ramp!

This comment is kind of contradicting. Let us make the comments. We see the offroad tires and level/lift and ask what it's used for. You say oh nothing it hasn't even touch mud once. What do you expect. Why not leave it stock if you aren't going to use the lift and tires on what they were put there for.

Although I feel your post is extemely trolling ill entertain the fact you think it's a contradiction, you may want the level wheels and tires for hitting the trail and getting in the good ole mud hole or whatever you intend to use ur truck for. I however want the level wheels and tires because I think the look is very sharp looking and hay I dropped xxx amount of money on a truck why not make it exactly how I would like it to look. Hope that clears up the confusion

    • The timing marks are ok, that is #1, you can turn it over until they line up and it won't change anything, the crankshaft turns twice for every camshaft revolution, I have always set up SB Chevs as your pic shows using a straight edge
    • Someone's been here before.... There is a receipt for a 3-piece timing set, purchased earlier this year.   Is this picture something, or, nothing?   I have the timing cover off and my crank is perfectly TDC and the keyed gear's locating mark is dead on 12 o'clock.   The cam gear locating mark is also at 12 o'clock. Now, I'm not an expert, but all the install guides say the two locating marks should meet and be perfectly aligned when installing a timing set. The mark on the crank should be dead on 12:00 and the cam gear's mark should be dead on 6:00, and both marks should be perfectly vertically aligned.   I believe the timing gear is keyed or has a dowel that ensures it can only be installed on the cam in one position, so I have to believe the cam is out of phase somehow. At the very least, with a triangular bolt pattern, it can only be installed in one of 3 different positions.   Before I pulled the front cover, the truck was running alright, no service engine soon lights except an occasional P0172 / rich condition. Timing -16 timing at idle (should be +16), and total -35% fuel trim, two conditions I haven't been able to figure out.   In related news, my injector tested pretty well, wasn't leaking, but I had it rebuilt anyway, and it's on it's way back to me.         Along with this discovery, the good and bad:   Good: The oil pan seal appears undamaged.   Bad: -The timing cover has been reused, and the positioning dowels have been broken. That could explain some of the leaking. -Some kind of white paste or grease was used to try to seal the oil pan seal and timing cover (since wiped off..). -Then, someone globbed silicone all over the front of the cover and also buried the ckp sensor in it. But, they didn't put any inside the cover or use RTV to try to seal the oil pan seal with the timing cover (good).
    • The guy that owns K&P filters last I checked in with him has over 300,000 miles on his Dodge base Hemi using his own 35 micron absolute stainless mesh filter from its first oil change.    The GM study I've posted a dozen times shows the relationship in engine life based in multiples of base units, not miles or years. That is the base unit is the number of miles the motor ran using the reference filter efficiency.    The above two paragraphs dismantle anecdotal arguments IF one changes oil often enough to prevent particle formation and the motor is in otherwise good shape. That is not full of silica (no air filter) or suffering a metallurgical issue that is not part of the lubrication discussion. Poor heat treat in example.   Data from UOA's I've reviewed from more than a few engines can show remarkably broad variations in oil cleanliness using the exact same filter over the course of an engines life.     Lastly there is the common sense of it. Wear debris WILL circulate the engine BEFORE it ever sees a filter in route to that filter and WILL harm the pump which NEVER sees filtered oil.    Alpha question then becomes, given the facts, how long do you believe is a reasonable service life from a vehicle you are certain you will not pass down? That is the junk yard will be it's resting place when you're done with it? (the moral issue most don't care about).    Omega question is then how diligent are you prepared to be in general mechanical, air & oil maintenance? Preventing particulates and keeping them sufficiently dilute; preventing the precursors from generation, amalgamation and precipitation.    If I get a good look at the engine bay of a vehicle I have a fair idea of the owners commitment to the inside of the power train. That 30 micron WIX is still more efficient than a sieve.                 
    • It also depends on what criteria someone is using for “best” when talking filters.  Are we going off best efficiency?   Best quality/QC?  Etc. because the two may not mutually exclusive.
