Ugh just wonderful. Hopefully my Wife will be ok on her drive to work everyday until the recall comes out.

27 crashes from brake system failure. This is one to take serious.

Only people who crash are the ones too stupid to know if they lose power assist they need to get on the brakes/steering harder. I've lost both before when I've had engines stall on older vehicles and managed to control it.

Unfortunately not all drivers are as smart as you are. How do you call them? Stupid. Right.

Ever thought of drivers who don't have the knowledge of how a power assist works or what happens if they lose it?

Before you call people stupid you better think twice. You get scared by a screaming woman....

Maybe they are smarter than you are when it comes to math......or life in general.

Say what you want but the lack of even the most basic knowledge many people have about their cars is pathetic and even dangerous. I'm not saying they need to be able to rebuild an engine but crap like losing power assist is something covered in drivers ed, there is no excuse for not being able to handle that sort of situation. And knock off the personal attacks, now.

^I pulled up on a disabled vehicle at work the other night and helped the guy out by pushing it. I specifically told him ahead of time that he'd need to get on the brakes hard to stop the car. Well another gentleman helped me push, and he and I had to essentially scream at the driver to get him to stop and not hit the parked car in front of where he was going to park.

Even when the center console e brakes are there, people fail to understand its more than a parking brake. When my old Nissan sentras steel brake lines erroded and caused me to lose ALL braking due to no pressure, I immediately went for the e brake and started to pump it slowly as to not over work them. Made it home safely and at the time, I was only 17. Just common sense to try all.options rather than not try at all.

I had to go get parts with a stripped caliper bolt. I zip tied the caliper to the upper a arm and used the parking brake. Wasn't easy but can be done

Had one of my rear caliper bolts come off when I was about 17. I could still stop but the caliper drug on the rotor and locked up that wheel. I had no idea what was going on. All I did to unlock it was to reverse everytime I came to complete stop

Funny thing is that I wasn't quite sure if the "e" in "e-brake" actually stays for emergency.

So much to smart people...

I don't know if this is true or not but when I was in school the shop teacher said we should refer to it as a parking brake because calling it an e-brake would infer it is something to be used in an emergency and since plenty of clueless types go years with never using the parking brake it may not work in an emergency.
