Hello,

Oh no! I am truly sorry to learn that you are frustrated with the lack of communication between you and your dealership. We strive to make sure that your experience with the dealership is the best experience possible. Please private message me if I can be of any assistance.

Sincerely,

I got the truck back today with the rear window module and regulator replaced. It seems to work like new, so all is well again.

I've recently noticed some unusual noises coming from my rear sliding window when I open and close it. I took a quick look and saw the visible wire that opens and closes the window, but I was unable to pinpoint the source of the noise. Any other 2014 owners that have had or are having this problem please chime in...

I have a 2014 Sierra & have the same issue. A few weeks ago, sliding rear window started to rattle when closed. Checked the window and found "slack" in the cable. The window "rocks" back & forth when closed. Now the window is leaking water.

Well this explains some things. This is the only forum I could find related to his topic. I had just ordered a 2014 Silverado 2LT with the sliding rear window and the dealer called me several days later to tell me that the rear sliding window has been removed from production until further notice.

I was a little miffed because the rear sliding window is kind of a staple on trucks these days and that was one of my must haves. He mentioned they can get it done at a local detailing shop but not sure if these are OEM or aftermarket parts. I think I would rather have just paid for it and have GM/Chevy install it once they get the updated parts. Any suggestions?

I would either learn to live with a solid window, wait until GM releases the window for production or look elsewhere. I'm not a fan of any of the aftermarket stuff like that. It will never fit or work like factory should.

Well, now "Part 2" of this saga. After replacement of the cargo light for water leakage and replacement of the regulator & related items for the sliding rear window, my truck is again leaking water. Returned to dealer, who found that an issue with the rear window gasket on the passenger side. Dealer said it probably occurred at the time of manufacture. Dealer has ordered an entire new rear window & gaskets. Hopefully this will solve the water issue. BTW, the dealer that sold me the truck has been nothing short of GREAT in solving this issue !!!!

I'm hoping that this is a "factory" window unit & not "aftermarket". According to the Dealer, it was a problem with the gasket not being properly installed at the factory. If that is the issue, then I should be ok with the "new" factory unit. Keeping my fingers crossed; will keep everyone posted on this.

MikeNH is right on, The dealer just wants to get you on a truck before you go somewhere else. in the 900s they could not install OEM slider at dealer ship or if they could (they had not tried) it would be cost prohibitive. . You got it from the factory or some aftermarket that looked after market...

It was a must have for me so I waited tell a dealer got my exact truck WITH the slider. And I was driving a GMC sub with 350,000 miles while waiting. IF it was me, I would wait. The sliders help with ventilation and help cut down on air pop in the cabin when rear window lowered some.

I am having the same issue. Ordered a 2LTZ on 10/16 and just notified a couple days ago about the window issue. Seeing this tread makes me understand why they pulled them.

Feel free to PM me if you have any updates. I should be getting some update today...I hope.

I may be the odd man out here, I ordered my 1LZ on 10/22 and will actually be happy if they build it without the slider. One less thing to go wrong and I cant see myself ever using it anyway.

Latest update: dealer installed a new factory unit; no leakage !!

I was following this and asked my dealer about these issues and tried to get them to replace it pre-emptively when I bought my truck 2 weeks ago. Obviously they didn't, said it is currently a "when broken" warranty repair. I operate it every couple of days just to keep an eye on it. So far so good. The comments here are helpful so I know what to watch out for!

I haven't gotten a call from my dealer about my rear slider being deleted but I'm assuming mine will be since my truck has a production date of Nov. 18th. Honestly I'm not thrilled about it and I don't see what the compensation for this is. Maybe it's because I've never had a rear slider in a truck before but I wanted that window.

First time post to the forum. I put in an order for a '14 LTZ that included the rear sliding window delete that shows a credit of $250, but the salesman added it back in further down the build sheet with no added cost. We'll see what happens though.

    • Some clarification may help with some of these issues.   - Rev Industries is/was the division of BAK (now Realtruck) that makes covers under the OEM names.  So if you see one with a Ford logo on it, or if you are buying the GM Accessories cover, you are essentially buying a BAK G2 cover with different branding.   - Rev Industries now markets under RealTruck "Advantage."   - As of May 1, 2025, the Advantage covers now have a 5 year warranty.  Anything before that was a 36/36K warranty.   - Parts for the covers are available from Realtruck or BAK.  The email address to reach them is [email protected] or you can call them at 818-365-9000   - If the entire cover has to be replaced, you have to go through your local GM dealer.  Service dept opens an RO, notes the damage and submits it as a warranty claim.  Keep your paperwork handy so they can confirm when you purchased it and it's within the warranty timeframe.  Once the warranty claim is approved, Parts orders the replacement cover.  When it arrives at the dealership, service will remove and install the new one for free as labor is included under warranty.   - The Advantage covers are not the latest and greatest Gen 3 covers.  They still use the old school clamps, elevator bolts, etc...If you want the newer technology, consider buying your cover in the aftermarket world.  That way, if you have an issue you can deal directly with the manufacturer.   - Finally, RealTruck has a program with many of their authorized dealers that doubles the warranty to 10 years if the authorized dealer does the install.     Hope this helps.
    • Welcome to the group!  My '22 just crossed 150K miles.  Runs perfectly.  Oil pump belt will be done in the next 30 days or so and onward hopefully for another 150K.  Love the truck.
    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!
