Tow Mirrors

New here and my first post I have looked over this whole thread, great great info! Signed up cause this forum is awesome! I have a 2014 Chevy silverado 1500 work truck 2wd, it's full loaded though including power mirrors. I only get work trucks because I like rubber floors and black bumpers...I have the standard power mirrors (no blinkers or heat, but power) I am wanting to put a set of the two mirrors on it really really bad and very very soon....from what I understand it will work using all of these part numbers and correct me if I am wrong, I am posting this just to get confirmation before I spend a bunch of money on this project and I need any input that would help. I obviously want the power to work, which should work either way right? Obviously I don't have blinkers now but the new ones will come with blinker, I was told the harnesses are for to make the blinker work with my truck? I just don't know what the new switch is for...I'm honestly not concerned to much about the heat or blinkers, but great if I can get them to work, mainly just want the power to work. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

I just ordered my Oem tow mirrors to they will be in tomorrow, my truck has heat and power but no blinkers. I'd love to get em to work. But not sure if it's possible.

what part numbers did you order? Did you order just the mirrors or did you get the switch to? I was told the harnesses you can also order will make the heat and blinkers work...let me know how it goes please 616-795-5542 text

I just orderd the 2 mirrors, and some extra Oem nuts with washer on em. I have factory heat and power but I still have not got a clear answer on blinkers yet how to get them to work.

Thank you guys for the Heads up...

What I am going to do that will be cheaper is run the blinkers on the mirrors to the blinkers on the headlight...

They will always be lit up for driving lights and will blink when blinker is on.

That sounds like a great option for the blinkers. I was just going to look for the wire in the steering column. Keep us posted on this.

Just picked up a set of the Longview slip on towing mirrors from AutoAnything.com:

http://www.autoanything.com/mirrors/longview-towing-slip-on-mirrors

$72 free ship w/ code right now.

Quick review. First, yes they do in fact have the stupid flaming flamingo looking thing on the front. I see absolutely no reason for it to even be there whatsoever unless, of course, you just don't have enough stuff to catch bugs with as it is. That said, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen. At least it's all black. They could have inlaid it in red I guess.

Next, it does have a single foam pad near the strap for cushion. The instructions imply that some models come with extra padding to be strategically placed, ours do not (they are not listed as having extra foam, and mine didn't). I wouldn't say that they NEED the foam, but out of an abundance of caution to prevent any rubs, I did grab some at the hardware store and placed a few tiny pieces around. I mostly did this for peace of mind on the rubbing, but it had the added benefit of stabilizing them even more.

The fit is fantastic, looks great (minus the flaming flamingo), and super super easy to install. If I ran around the truck, could probably install in 20 seconds on a good day. So easy that I would probably yank them off and pitch them in the bed of the truck at the drop of a hat if I dropped the trailer for a few hours or something. My previous mirrors, yeah not so much.

Without the foam, I'd say that they are BY FAR the most stable slip on mirrors I've ever had. Quite pleased with them. Now, slip ons will never really be as stable and wiggle free as OEM tow mirrors, but you have to sacrifice something here. But these are excellent, barely noticeable on the wiggle and nothing I would ever complain about in the least. After adding the foam, just got that much better. I think it reduced the up/down movement on the outer edge of the mirror area. I won't say that they don't wiggle at all going down the road, but you have to REALLY be trying to find it to notice it.

Yes, they fold up with the factory mirrors just fine, no worries there. And they give a decent view of the road. Again, not OEM style, but they aren't the size of a small lost dog flyer, easily removeable, doesn't modify or harm the original truck in any way, and hey, $72 is hard to beat!

BMan approved!

I just used my Longviews on my Silverado for the first time yesterday. I agree with everything above...very happy but I will also be adding the extra foam for piece of mind. I have a feeling that I may be bored one day and fill, smooth, and color match for the heck of it; the flaming chicken is a little ridiculous. Cheers

Got em on

What ones did you order? Also, does the power work on them and if they came with blinkers do the blinkers work? I was told if you order a set with power, heat, and blinkers and your truck only has power and heat they will not work and the new ones with blinkers will cause you to blow fuses? Is this true, all I really care about is the power to work. let me know, thanks!

I got the Oem tow mirrors, I did not have factory blinkers so they do not work. But everything else does.

They do look a lil odd on my truck maybe I'll get use to them if not I'll sell em and get longview. I'm scared with the longviews you won't get as good of a view with a 8'6" wide trailer

DO YOU HAVE THE PART NUMBERS? I want to get a set for mine, just want to make sure the power works. What truck do you have? Mine is a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500...WHAT ARE THE LONGVIEW?
