redwngr Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 So leave it on auto? Every time i leave it in auto the ac comes on It means the ac is enabled, and the auto function can be run it to help control the humidity. Sometimes it will operate both the heat and ac. Below a given temp it will disable the ac, and the light will be out.
TJP440 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I have just purchased a 2014 1500 LTZ with the dual heat/ac. it would appear to me that when using the remote start the heat/ac system and seats go into lala land IE: meaning they don't due much until the key is turned on. The A/c system then functions normally but one still has to turn the seats on. BAD IDEA, I'm guessing after reading about these issues on several forums that the design group dropped the ball on the 1 yard line. The A/C system in my 2011 LTZ came on and functioned as one would expect but did not offer the heated seat auto turn on.I am hoping GM is going to address these issues. BTW I have been buying new GM trucks since 1992.What say you Jennifer ????
desrt35 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 The owners manual states it will revert to your previous settings. And will turn the seats on if YOU have enabled that feature in the vehicle settings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2016 Sierra Owner Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 The owners manual states it will revert to your previous settings. And will turn the seats on if YOU have enabled that feature in the vehicle settings. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1387822741.693731.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes it uses the previous settings if you leave the system in auto. However if you turn the system off it does nothing. The 07-13 trucks would run the A/C or heat depending on the outside temp if the system was off or on it would run. Problem with the heated seats is most people are used to the seats being butt burning warm from previous or other vehicles they have driven. The seats in these new trucks are just kind of pre heated and turn on at a very low setting. When you get in and turn them on they are warm right away. At least that is how mine work. They are warm within a minute after turning the key and pressing the power button. Yes I wish GM would not have made this change but, that's what we have to live with unless there is an update.
TJP440 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys, I have been trying different thing's for several days and it would appear that MY climate control does not come on when using the remote start. IE: 10 degree weather. I start the truck, whether I wait 10 minutes or not, the climate control screen is blank until the key is inserted and turned to the on position. This is regardless of the state the system was left in when the vehicle was parked. The blower is running on medium (??) and I am greeted with a cold interior. As previously mentioned by another poster, my 2011's Climate control came on as expected when using the remote start. The seats may be a different issue altogether and I can live with that hoping that they will do an update??? So I am hoping to establish through the dialogue here whether the truck has an issue or if the system is working as designed. I just re read the posting on the manual page and will admit that I have not waited for the signals to flash for 4 seconds, only until the truck has started.I will try it again observing the signals and report back a bit laterthanks again
TJP440 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 OK so I started the truck cold in 5 degree weather and waited until the 10 minutes was almost up. I checked the interior temp and it was still cold. The climate control display was blank and the seats were cold. Noticing that the engine temp was only up to 160 I repeated the process. the second attempt resulted in a warmer interior with cold seats. So if the system is functioning as designed it's not very useful in cold climates IMO. Where's Jennifer ???? LOL
TJP440 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 just did some more research at different sites and it would appear to confirm two things, The heated seats are all but useless when using the remote start, the climate control is pretty much the same. I will be contacting GM about these issues and hope they will step up to the plate.
TJay74 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Did you make sure to turn on the heated/cooled seats in the info center setup?
Sir Dan Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 OK so I started the truck cold in 5 degree weather and waited until the 10 minutes was almost up. LOL Are you comparing the interior warmth after 10 mins to another vehicle you've had with remoter start that was warmer? I can tell you that my '08 engine temp is just barely off the cold mark after 10 mins. when really cold out and the temp inside is still frosty. It's just this reason that many people, (including me) in colder areas get aftermarket remote starters that run longer than the 10 mins. The GM factory remote start is all but worthless up north. I have an astrostart system that runs 30 mins with one button push. It won't turn on my seats but it really doesn't have to since there is plenty of time there.
TJP440 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Yes I guess so Dan, my 2011 Silverado did not have this problem. When I originally posted I was hoping that I was missing something in the setup of the system. After the research I've done and the things I've done it would appear the design team lived in a warmer climate. LOL I am hoping GM will get enough complaints to fix the issue
TJP440 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 And to T-jay, yes the seats are on according to the setup. This does not appear to be an isolated issue per the forums I've been researching

Awh sounds plausible now I know what to look for on my 2014. My 2009 turned the heated seats on full blast and man that was nice and warm and comfy. have had this 2014 truck less than a week so not familiar with it just yet I will check carefully in the morning and see if I feel any warmth at all on the seat bottom and back with my hand on the seat before I jump in. I was actually looking for the heated seats indicator lights to be on like my old 2009 model. Not sure that I am going to like it too much if they have messed up the heated seats and hvac controls on remote start that will be a point of contention for me. Growl LOL
