Factory 22" LPO GM Accessories Wheels...proper inflation

To any of you that bought your truck from the factory with the "Dealer Installed" 22" GM LPO Accessories style wheels, can you look in your drivers door and see what the plackard lists for the recommended air pressure for the 22" tires? I had the 22's installed at the dealership before taking delivery, but it was not a part of my factory window sticker, thus said, the tire plackard lists the wrong size and psi. I have 40lbs of air in there that the delarship set them to, but I feel like it is way too much as being that the factory 20" wheels only call for 32lbs of air. My ride is hard as a rock and I am sure this is a lot of the reasoning. I don't want opinions here either if you understand my situation, but rather a photo of the plackard or the facts listed there. The dealership was supposed to have replaced the plackard with an updated version since my tires changed. Your help is appreciated! Thanks

35 all around. So far th at send good for the fronts but might be a pound out two too much for the back if the bed is empty. I'm keeping them at 35 and watching how they wear. 40 is way too high. You'll wear the centers out...

Ok, I checked the psi this morning cold in the shade and it was at 32lbs all the way around. Funny thing is that I drove it 20 miles and back for a total of 40 miles and the pressure increased to 38lbs! Is a 6lb increase normal? Will the nitrogen make and difference in this? As for the wheels making the truck ride bad, it doesn't matter because the 11' Ram that I traded in makes this thing feel like your riding in a wagon anyway. The Ram, with it's rear coil springs rides more like an Escalade than a truck. GM can't even think of competing with Chrysler in the ride department. I know I have a Z71, but I have driven the standard 4x4 LTZ as well and it rode virtually the same. You definitely know your driving and riding in a truck with this overpriced piece!!! Can't wait til I can afford to trade my other vehicle, which is a lease for another 13 months, in for another Ram. My wife wanted another truck and she will get this one when I get my next Ram. I prefer to keep my kidneys intact! LOL BTW, There are many things about this new Silverado that GM did redesign very well and I'll give them credit in my full review that I plan on posting soon. The coil springs you're raving about is also why the RAM's payload is 25% lower than the Silverado/Sierra. It's also what if you are towing your max weight and have 4 adults and gear loaded in the truck you're overloaded by quite a bit.

If you need to tow, then buy a 2500, the vast majority of the truck buying public will never tow much more than a utility trailer to begin with. I did say that GM did a lot of things very well, just not the suspension. I left GM back around 2005 with my last Silverado 1500, which did ride better than any of the new 14's that I've driven to date. I had an old Dakota for a few years as I paid off debts and then I was excited about the new restyled 2007 Silverado & Sierra. I drove a few of them and just had no desire to own one as I felt like it was a step back from the previous models. I bought a used Ram in 2009 from my old boss and never looked back until I traded it for a 4x4 Outdoorsman Ram in early 2011 due to the need for an offroad capable truck that could get me unstuck on our property that we bought. The Ram was not perfect by any means, it had the dreaded Chrysler transmission problems from day one, although it never broke, but felt like it would at any time until I traded it on this new Silverado. I just wanted to try GM again due to the lease we've had on my other car for almost two years. I felt like GM had drastically improved after having zero complaints and I loved the look of the new 2014 truck. I seriously should have kept my Ram a little while longer, but when I realized that I had $2k in trade equity along with the GM Business Choice discounts, the $10k off of a new 2014 truck was more than I could turn down. I usually trade every three years and I was less than 6 months from that time again and I figured that the huge deal that I was given would probably not be much better at a later time considering the additional mileage & depreciation my trade would aquire. Facts are facts and GM built one very nice and capable truck, but as a businessman than needs to impress clients, it does so until we drive over any slight imperfections on the roadway. My Ram always done everythimg that I asked of it, I just saw the dollar signs and figured all the hype surrounding the new Silverado was worth a gamble.

IMO the Sierra and Silverado are more capable as trucks than the RAM...

Can you post a picture of the 22s please? I'm looking for a set for my truck and was going to go with the escalades and just put Denali centers in but the more options the better. Ohh and congrats on getting yourself in to a real truck again. Now you have the great looks and the great engine. Ohh and I hope GM never goes to full independant rear suspension, they ride like a dream now. If you want a car like ride, buy a car. Don't take away the capabilities of a truck just so it rides a tiny bit better. You watch, the rams are going to be unibody soon, stupid Fiat haha.

Rear coil springs belong on a car or jeep. You say get a 2500 if u want to tow. I say get a high end car if you want a perfect ride. I'll stick with a truck that rides good and can tow when I need to. If you have 4 buddies in a dodge and a small trailer you are over your limit. If this truck makes you kidneys hurt then you should go see your doctor.

When I got my BGF All Terrains I called and talk to a lot of different people trying to find out exactly what pressure I should run since it was a completely different type and size tire than factory.

 

What I heard was 36 pounds.....but what I heard from BFG that really let me know that 36 was right is this.

 

They said the difference in pressure when the tire is cold.....versus when the tire is hot....should be about 10% more.

 

And mine are 36 when cold and go no higher than 40 when they are hot....so that's right about 10%......plus they have been wearing perfect for the last 3 years too.

I run 35 in mine like I said earlier and on a 650 mile trip from St Louis to Pittsburgh they went between 38 and 40. I still think the backs could go down a few pounds when empty but I'm keeping an eye on it...

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?  
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
