IO6 is IO6. Only works on 2015 with IO5. It's not limited, you're getting an IO6. Just gotta call on star and xm for the upgrades.

Good to know that, as I had been wondering about that as my family's 2015 LTZ Z71 IO6 has a different number on the GM tag compared to the newer 2015.5 LTZ Z71 IO6.

Just noticed the updates to this thread. We have been programming the modules correctly for almost 2 years now and have taken GREAT care of every one of our 1000's of customers. We also do this day in and day out and are well aware of the necessary hardware and calibration needs.

Just curious as to why you install the rear ent software on the HMIs that don't have the rear system. I have one of yours and it has the rear video icon that does nothing when your u press it.

Most of our buyers want all the available software/options so we include all the options for each vehicle. Seems like some are disappointed if any option is omitted. If you like, shoot it back to me and I will remove that.

no. doesn't really "burn" the vin rather learns the vin of the first vehicle it is installed in. Unit is then vin locked to that vehicle. The dealers do charge to calibrate the units of course :)

Because it's probably programmed as a Yukon lol have seen at least five or six come through that were marked as Sierra/Yukon on the bag which is funny because they have pretty specific changes for some segments between truck and suv.

Uh actually no smart guy. We have some distributors that Purchased them exactly like that even though we told them there were differences in the 2. They don't want to stock both skus. Funny thing is that they bought over 400 like that and NONE of their customers had a single issue. We told them we would reflash if needed but never had one. Guess they all end up with you via MVI so I guess that saves me work eh.

Ahh man that must be crazy that all of those that I've gotten marked like that and sold to sierra customers happen to have 100% Yukon calibrations in them ;)

I upgraded my 4.2” screen to an 8” with GPS and backup camera from MVI and every part was plug & play. My 2014 Silverado was pre wired for the camera and they gave me a splitter that mounts behind the 8” screen so I could use my existing antenna. MVI is great to do business with, if you have any questions you can always text them and they will promptly respond.

Does it cost anything for the dealer to burn your VIN into it?

So...I have to chime in on this topic. The fact is that the video icons do Absolutely Nothing unless you have the other module and wiring in the vehicle to run them....period!! My company has taken more calls regarding this exact issue than I care to go into detail about. These icons do nothing for you at all except annoy you because you can't use them without the rest of the components. Programming for just 2 applications is simply not a good idea for multiple reasons, that is why its important to just get it done the correct way the first time around. If not....you will indeed be spending more money getting things recalibrated and likely NOT at a dealer unless you know a good one. The dealers quite honestly have no clue when it comes to this custom stuff...they are struggling with trying to add their new "Antenna Upgrade"...LOL. I am already seeing a LOT of WRONG info out there since GM launched their new program for adding NAV....which is where you are hearing "burning the vin" into the module.

There is simply to many variables out there to try and do this upgrade with anyone that Does Not do this every single day and specialize in this alone.

Which we proudly do :)

If a user has unsupported icon/s after a HMI upgrade...simply remove the icon/s from the Home screen to another.

I prefer to have all the options available with any hardware upgrade, usable now or not, for future flexibility. We all eventually want more and in most cases, users will have the choices available to them for far less money vs a new hardware upgrade again to add more features.

IMO this thread has much information for users but is getting harder to navigate (no pun intended) with the stepping on others toes or the bickering adding usless content.

Anyone know if Apple Carplay that will come with the 2016's will be able to be added to a 2015 via software or if will require a new unit?
