After riding in buddies new Denali, just realized finally real 4x4&#33

driver alert/lane departure warning = pure aggravation I can't see how anyone would want this on their truck.

Can you explain what's aggravating about it? I obviously haven't used it yet so I don't know how well it will work. I expect to only use it on long freeway trips. I haven't seen many tests of it yet. Reviews on the cooled seats in the summertime have been pretty positive from what I've seen.

That's kinda what I was getting at - you want the 6.2 you gotta pay for it on either trim level. You want the Z71 All Terrain already has it standard but you gotta pay for it on the Denali, you want 22"s gotta pay for it either trim level, only thing the Denali has that SLT doesn't "standard" is the grill, the gauge cluster (which I don't even think is worth mentioning but whatever), and side steps in the colored bumpers (aside from the obvious badges).

Keep in mind, it may have been a slip of tongue on your part, but the Denali DOESN'T come w/ the 6.2 anymore than the All Terrain does. That's an option on any SLT or Denali truck, not standard. The AT has the offroad suspension/Z71 package - that's an option for the Denali. The Denali simply has a distinctive grill, "better" is in the eye of the beholder - the AT grill is "distintctive" as well, in that it is only on the AT, that to me is what makes it nice and the same goes for the Denali, so what it comes down to is paying $3,000 for a gauge cluster and some badges and to me that aint worth it.

I wouldn't spend $3000 for the cluster and badges either. But again, in my case it was $1000 for the gauge cluster and the seats--a much better deal.

I know what you're saying, but it can be turned off luckily for those that don't want a vibrating seat. Sure we've been driving for 20-60 years and don't need to be told when a car is in our blind spot, crossing center, etc but I think it's one of those technologies that is just going to grow on us and be handy to some (especially Oklahoma drivers. you know who you are)

So for the 2,xxx difference we're looking at:

12 way seats against 10

More Driver Alert Features (It wouldn't let me put the whole package on the All-Terrain, only park assist w/ All-Terrain Plus)

Gauge Cluster

Cooled Seats

*maybe a better grade leather seat

nice wood grain/aluminum

Front Chrome Grill

and sure I plan on keeping the truck a while, but I would think the Denali name will give it a little edge on resale.

Definitely an edge on resale. The cooled seats come on SLT's too though right? Just not on All Terrains. The cooled seats are standard on the Denali? The SLT Sierras do use real Aluminum trim, same as the Denali, its ALL other GM truck models (including all Chevys I believe) that don't have the real AL trim.

The wood grain is real on the Denali this time around?

SLT All Terrain = can't get cooled seats... also don't think you can get lane departure (which I would never have anyway)

STL = can get all that.

All Terrain = coolest wheel GM ever made.

Yeah, if you do much long distance driving (especially alone) and you're honest you'll probably admit to catching yourself about to doze off more times than you'd like to admit. It's one of the biggest hazards. I would welcome any additional tool that might help.

Yup. Real wood.

I do agree with that. Very nice wheels. If I wasn't planning to get aftermarket fairly soon I would have had to think harder on that. I do like those wheels!

When I said above the price difference was $1000 I was wrong. I had forgotten when I was doing the comparisons I never added tube steps to the SLT but they come standard on the Denali so it wasn't apples to apples. Adding them to the SLT to make the comparison fair the difference was only $320.

For those still in the shopping stage, this may be interesting. Here is how the two were optioned out:

So ignoring any material differences, etc, between these vehicles, you get body colored bumpers and re-configurable display for $320 by choosing the Denali.

So I learned something new tonight, which fits right into this question. I am from Alberta Canada. I have a Sierra

Denali coming in for me, Canadian MSRP $61,040. (Put nothing down for order). Order was placed before pricing was out and I estimated the MSRP to be where it is at. At time of order and now the SLT shows "$3500" in cash credits on build it and DENALI shows "0" now that it is available to build online. This is probably my mistake as I ASSUMED the DENALI would have the same cash credits as the SLT.

Is this true? If so I should of ordered a SLT as people have shown the price and options available to be the same. Have not talked to the dealer about this concern yet as pricing is not settled because they had not received the truck or invoice. Before ordering I had a quote on an SLT which I was happy with but decided to order the denali assuming all equal with slight difference in MSRP.

Will be asking the dealer this question but thought I would ask on here as I just found this out 20 minutes ago.

Thanks sorry if im rambling.

Last week, I had a dealer spec out a loded SLT & a Denali. The difference was that the Denali had the 6.2 & the SLT had the 5.3. Both had pretty much everything...sunroof, Z71, driver alert, etc. If he input al the info correctly, the difference in price was $2660 & $2000 of that was for the 6.2. I haven't taken the time to compare them line by line but he seemed surprised that the difference was that small.

That's the reason I said "if he input all the info correctly". I'm not sure he really knew what he was doing.

The 20" wheels are different on the Denali, better looking I thought. As far as pricing a lot depends on how much of the standard Denali equipment you want. If you want it all, the increased resale value should offset the increased cost.

Oklahoma drivers are almost worse than Hawaii (Oahu). I've never seen turn signals as an option when purchasing a vehicle, they must be in Oklahoma as many never use them.

You don't need to add the steps and bose and wheels singularly on the SLT??!! That build comparison is flat wrong. You get all three of those things w/ the SLT crew cab value package for $2195

The Value Package sticks you with the chrome tube steps, which I did not want. You are correct though, if you want those steps the value package does save some money off the total build--around $900. That puts the total difference between vehicles back to about $1200, very close to what I said in the first place.

None of that changes my original point--when equipped similarly, the price difference is pretty small.
