Both my '07, and my '13 made the sound you describe in cold weather, while going over bumps, even slowly. This one doesn't yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it started. It was more noticeable at temperatures under -20 celcius, and very noticeable at around -30 to -40 celcius.

Its easy to convert -40 degrees Celsius to -40 degrees Fahrenheit because they are exactly the same. And yes, this is numbingly cold temperature. Creaking of my truck's suspension would be my least worry.

Guess why mine was creaking? Nuts missing and some not tightened. Up. I am livid.attachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1390149653521.jpgattachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1390149666495.jpg

Just imagine all the missing nuts where you cannot see them!

Don't even say that! ;-)

If it was my truck I would carefully inspect engine mounts, radiator mounting brackets, and brake caliper mounting bolts. Also, if you have a hitch receiver, all mounting bolts on that.

no worries. I am crawling under the truck soon and check it all out.

Not a GMC production line problem. This happens after the dealer install a 6" procomp lift on my truck.

Got a call from my dealer today that my truck is ready. It has been at the dealer 2 days for recall, vibration, on star has never worked, creaking sound when cold, and seat.

They told me the tech lubed the splines, and that it was the slip yoke. I haven't heard that one yet. :banghead:

When I had a 2008 it would feel like someone bumped you from the rear when just stopped.

I supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

I picked up my truck yesterday, and this morning same problem. Sounds like the rear end is going to fall out.

I get this same issue as well. Happens whether it's 80 degrees out or 30 and usually occurs right as I'm taking off under normal acceleration. Had the truck since September. I've pin pointed the sound from the rear passenger's side wheel/leaf spring area but can't see anything wrong.

Can't get it to make the noise with a tech in the truck so I just have to live with a $42,000 truck sounding like my used and abused 96 Silverado.

Not too big of an issue but also not what I was expecting from shelling out that kind of cash. I wouldn't have expected even a brand new $15,000 Honda Civic to make this noise.

Sounds like a ship creaking?

Hopefully it does not sound quite as loud as Titanic breaking into two halves while sinking

I have the same creaking noise but I live in Florida. Don't think it's the cold. I do think it is leaf spring in my case so I'll do the wd40 thing and see if that works.

I am in Florida too and last week we had some cold mornings here and my Impala rear suspension creaked for the first time in 4 years when hitting a bump in the road. Did not run the truck to see if it would creak too.

I must admit that it got a little cold for Florida. BTW My creaking was due to the dealership not tightening my leaf spring bolts. Go figure.
