10 minutes isn't long enough. I know you can start it again, but that's kind of annoying. It was 19 degrees here this morning and 10 minutes wasn't enough to defrost my windshield, this truck takes a while to warm up. Is there any way to increase that time period? I looked in the settings but couldn't find anything. I'm at work now so I haven't gotten a chance to look in the owners manual.

Didn't know you could do that before it turns off. Thanks.

Now it only adds 10 mins, so if its running for 5 and you do it rhen u have 15, if you do it after 2 mins then you get 12 mins

Ugh, that doesn't help much. Wish there was a setting I could change.

You can always go out there and start it by hand and it will run until the fuel tank is dry if you want. :D

Imagine how warm the seats will be, too!

Don't complain about "only 10 minutes", it wasn't too long ago that they didn't even have remote start unless you got one aftermarket. Hell, I'm thankful for the starter in general. Those hand cranks were dangerous!

You have two, 10 min remote starts before you have to go and start it with your keys, and then it resets the cycle. So if you wait until it shuts off on the first remote start, you can do one more after that. Same as on the GMT900's

You really shouldn't be idling your truck for more than 20min anyways, even that is kind of ridiculous. Just get in and drive the damn thing!

It amazes me how counterproductive this forum can be sometimes. The guy made a legitimate inquiry and justified his reasoning. He's looking for answers, not opinions on his lifestyle. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but sometimes the unsolicited advice gets ridiculous (not just this thread but all over the forum).

Like a few posts mentioned above, currently you get two 10 min remote starts max. For GM, anything longer is a liability.

With all the computers in these trucks now, my hope is someone out there will come up with a complete aftermarket hack in the next couple years. I have several little tweaks is love to make! (looking at you Intellilink! ha)

:dunno::dunno: Just read all 8 posts, did I miss something? Never saw the "lifestyle" post you refer to. Looks to me he, got his answer.

Just saying,

Mike

I have a 3 minute drive to work, all I want is the damn windshield to defrost so I can see. It's not even what I consider real cold here, and the current alloted time doesn't defrost it. The truck's not even up to temperature by the time I get to work, I just find that odd. I've had remote start on my last 4 vehicles, and they all were up to temperature when I would get in to drive to work. This truck just doesn't want to warm up. My 2012 Ram would have the window defrosted in 5 minutes. Do we have an extra large capacity cooling system on these trucks? Is it possible I have a faulty thermostat?

The whole reason for remote start is to avoid having to do that. Also, this truck doesn't fit in my garage. This is my fourth vehicle with remote start, I consider it as common as power windows these days.

I've pretty much been doing the same thing. Even after two 10 minute starts the coolant temp is just starting to show on the gauge. Is yours like that?
