I believe this whole 10 min run limit thing is about liability. I think it's a concern about carbon monoxide poisoning, etc.. Even Chris is pretty conservative about doing much with this.

Your starter isn't going to fail prematurely. You never hear about starters failing anymore. As far as I know it never would run 20 minutes unless you timed it just so- it always added 10 minutes from where you did the command. My 2011 manual says as much too.

Anyone had an issue when using remote start where seats do not heat up/cool. The settings for both are set to "on" but neither works with remote start in my '15 Sierra Denali.

I have only had my vehicle since September, so here (in Edmonton, AB, Canada) I haven't really had a chance to test the auto cooled seats. I can say for sure that my heated seats come on with the remote start, although the lights for the heated seats do not. You can only tell from the temperature of the seat itself.

Everything I've read says that when those settings are on, the truck cools the seats on "hot days" and warms them on "cold days", but I can't seem to find what temperature defines "warm" and "cold".

Mike-I'll check closer. The indicator lights not coming on as they have in the past several trucks I've owned concerned me. With only a 10 minute window, they don't have time to warm up a lot but I'll check closer.

I've noticed the same thing and we have the same vehicle. Would love to know what defines warm/cold. The heat comes right now, but I'm thinking that the seats are not coming on as well.

I have noticed my seats heat up on remote start, they aren't as hot as they would be after having them on high and driving around for a bit; but noticeably warm compared to the other surfaces in the truck in the morning. Once I turn the key I still have to turn the heated seats on. I think that's how they are supposed to work though, correct me if I'm wrong.

It's only 39 here currently. I double checked and the HVAC heat comes on, but the heated seats definitely are not warming up even though I have the setting turned on.

Do they work when you turn them on after a key start?

Yep, everything functions normally once I put the key in and start driving.

Different model, but I think this applies.

"The system uses the information obtained from the Outside Ambient Temperature sensor on the vehicle. When it reads 80°F (27°C) or higher, it will allow the operation of the ventilated seats during a remote start. When it reads 50°F (10°C) or lower, the system will allow operation of the heated seat during a remote start. If the sensor reads anything in between these temperatures, neither the heated nor ventilated seats will turn on regardless if they are enabled in the personalization menu."

Thanks! Admittedly, I have never looked too hard, but that's the first time I've seen numbers around when they cool or heat. Like you said, different model, but could be accurate.

Canadian igloo is a complete moron. I don’t think you actually live in Canada. At minus 35 C it’s bloody cold and 29 mins is not enough. “Get in and drive” guy, you really are an idiot. Nothing wrecks an engine faster than not warming it up. God, some people on here should just shut up.
