any tips keeping rear camera lense clean and unobstructed on 2014 silverado? get water and dirt from driving around on mine.

I put RainX on mine and while it doesn't keep the dirt off it defiantly keep the wet stuff off.

My past three vehicles have had rear view cameras. Nothing really keeps the dirt off. I just make it a habit of wiping it off with my finger when I get out or before I get in.

Anyone else disappointed with the backup camera? I have to back my truck in to its parking spot in my garage. I rely on the camera. Mine is grainy, the colors are bad, and its night operation is the worst. I have had a 1/2 dozen GM trucks with cameras and they have always been awesome. It seems like they switch cameras and went to a really crappy one. anyone else?

I just think the camera does not work well due to lighting. It relies on the reverse lights which don't put off enough light for the camera to be able to see.

I just resurrected another thread of similar vein. My resolution is horrible in sun light after being cleaned compared to past GM trucks.

I agree Swazimoto. My back up camera in our 13 Camaro is some what better than in my pickup.

It seems to work good on both of my trucks, much better than the one on my 2010 Silverado did.

I just came from a Toyota Tacoma that had a back-up camera. The Silverado camera is great compared to that. The picture quality is about the same, but the reference lines on the Silverado make a world of difference. The Tacoma did not have any and it was a wide angle to boot. Making it useless in actually judging how close I was to anything. That's really what these things are meant for; making sure you aren't going to hit something or someone. And I love how the reference lines show me where I'm going.

I love the lines also, it's great how they move with the wheel. I just wished it would allow me to see when I'm in drive. I had an aftermarket NAV kenwood in my 2000 Silvy with a rear camera and I could switch to it on demand, to check my trailer or some idiot tailgating me from texas so I could write his tag down and report him.

I'm hoping someone figures out how to do this myself. I would love to be able to keep an eye on my trailer while rolling down the highway. What a great feature that would be.

Yeah it's sad that back in 09 KenWood had the feature.
