Dealer discount?

I can order a truck and pay x amount under invoice (or gm supplier pricing) and I can get the same deal for a truck on the lot. Dealers can only go so low on either a truck on the lot or ordered (not figuring incentives). When ordering our Tahoe I could have bought off the lot or ordered for the same price. I ordered because the one on the lot was missing the 3rd row.

Right if you order you get supplier pricing, which I was quoted at my local dealer; however dealer would go 750 under supplier pricing for a similar truck on his lot. You can negotiate more for any vehicle on the lot. When you special order you lose the power to negotiate.

You don't lose bargaining power ordering. I am done arguing this. I have factory ordered 3 trucks since 2000, only 1 was the supplier pricing (2000).

Who's arguing? So you're saying the one time you paid supplier, you paid too much? As someone who is currently going through the process of buying and have asked three different dealers in 3 different states about the price to special order, I have not done better than supplier discount....bottom line there is little incentive to sell a vehicle that has not been built yet. Keep in mind, something you have not accounted for in your position, a dealer pays tax on the stock they carry....therefore they are motivated to move inventory. If you can show me those who regularly purchased a special order 2014 Silverado or Sierra for under 9K off MSRP, I will believe your assertion.

I think I'm ready to place my order. Here's the best offer I got so far:

2014 Sierra 6.2L SLT, pretty much loaded but without sunroof & cooled seats: MSRP $52,750.00

Factory discounts quoted by my dealer: $1,000.00 consumer rebate, $750.00 for USAA insurance, $1,000.00 for GM trade in, $500.00 incremental cash discount, $500.00 bonus cash discount. These all add up to $3,750.00 in factory discounts which drops the price to $49,000.00. My dealer has offered to sell me the truck for $44,275.00 plus TT&L.

MSRP $52,750.00 - $44,275.00 = $8,475.00 off the MSRP.

Did I leave anything on the table?

Checkout www.gmsupplierdiscount.com and www.gmfamilyfirst.com. If you can get you price between these two, youre getting a good deal. One is suppliers price and the other is gm employee discount.

When does GM typically have their highest rebates/discounts? Is it at year end or some other point in the year? I am dying to get either the Silverado or Sierra with the 6.2 engine, but very pricey and hard to come by right now. I'm hoping by spring GM will increase rebates. Hopefully when Fo*d comes out with their new F150 GM will up the ante? I wish GM would allow for the 6.2 engine in a lower trim. I have already test driven the 6.2 and WOW. Awesome.

Yes but at the end of the day, you are stuck with an anemic V6 engine in a truck.

So you think 285 hp & 305 ft. lbs of tq is anemic? Have you driven a '14 with a v6?

Thank you, I'll check it out.

$43k for a Denali?! Good lord.

If you read the fine print, that price is with every rebate GM offers to which you may not qualify for; especially if you don't trade in another GM vehicle.

Just shows that GM is desperate or trying to keep pace with the Ford & Ram with their higher rebates. No reason that a truck in it's intro year of less than say 6 months on the market already has rebates this large. You shouldn't expect discounts this large until the 15's are coming out or this time next year when the leftover 14's are needing to go. For gosh sakes, we are still in 2013! Not mad about it, heck I was at about $8k off back at Labor Day right after they hit the market which I thought was odd and it was through the Fleet/Commercial dept. Man, may get $15k off on a v6 14' this time next year at this rate!

They auctually raised the price's of trucks, then rasied the rebates.

MSRP 45,030

Cash price $41,259

$4,400 in rebates

$1,000 trade in bonus.

$35,859 plus TTL

so around 20% discount from MSRP. I think that's an OK deal

I was offered no discount on a 6.2l Denali, the dealer upped my trade in a little bit from the initial offer. The same day I was offered a new platinum f150 for $14k less then the Denali. The Gmc dealer told me there was only $1500 in rebates, even though I had a trade in. I thought there was a $1000 rebate for trade ins also.

GM needs to add more information on their websites about rebates. They advertise $5k in rebates on the website, then tell you to see your dealer for details. With the poor experience I had at the GMC dealer, I almost bought a f150 an hour later. Why not list the details of the rebates on their website?
